My current configuration is:
Windows XP Professional
Crystal Reports XI Professional
Oracle Client 10g
This is working great, however we are switching to Windows 7 Professional and I need to get this same configuration working on the new machines.
I have loaded Windows 7 Professional and Oracle Client 10g. Oracle makes the data connection without any problems. I loaded Crystal Reports XI Professional, but it will not connect to the Oracle database. It keeps giving me the Unknown Database Connector error. Can anyone assist me with this problem? This is the final software package that is holding up the project.
Thanks
Hello,
CR XI is not supported nor ever tested on Windows 7. CR XI R2 is and you can upgrade for free:
http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/crystalreports/crxir2_sp4_full_bld_0-20008684.exe
http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/crystalreports/CRYSTALREPORTS06_0-20008684.EXE
Use you XI keycode to install it.
Make sure the Oracle Client install is in the PATH statement and if you are using ODBC use Oracles Driver not Microsoft's ODBC Oracle client, it doesn't work because it only supports Oracle 7.

Hi Uher,
Sorry for the borrow another discussion issue, because I am a new bird of this forum and cannot find the proper way to start new discussion.
My issue transferred to this new discussion.

We currently do not use any SDK. We create reports right out of crystal and the apps specialist runs them for the organization.
I have my path set correctly I believe: Here is a copy of it.
Path=C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\bin\NOTES;C:\Program Files\Business Objests\Common\3.5\bin\NOTES\DATA\;C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\
PATHEXT=.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;WSH;.MSC
I loaded Rel 2, but I am still getting the same error. I would certainly appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,
Pam

Hi Pam,
Looks like your path is correct.
Try this as a test, open up 32 bit ODBC Administrator and try to create a new System DSN to the Oracle Server and see if once you fill in all of the info it connects.
Oracle uses the native client to connect so test in there doesn't verify everything.
When you create your reports what connection method are you using, ODBC, OLE DB or Oracle Server?
Don
I created a system DSN and was able to connect to the database. I have Crystal Reports XI loaded on several different machines. XP and Windows Server 2003. I loaded the Oracle Client 10g_1. I went through the Net Configuration Assistant and set up the TNSNAMES.ORA file. I am able to connect without any issues on these machines. It is the Windows 7 SP1 that is giving me all this grief. I have gone through the Net Configuration Assistant in Win7. It have made sure that the TNSnames.ora file is located in the NETWORK/ADMIN folder. Yet when I launch Crystal Reports, I get no Database connector.
Hi Pam,
Very strange... Download [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] and then run CR Designer and try to connect, once the error pop's up then run modules and collect the info. Then click the button to show the versions and check all of the CR runtime is version 11.5.x.x and confirm crdb_oracle or crdb_odbc.dll is loaded as well as the Oracle Client dll's.
You can also click on Help, About... More Info button and see if and what versions are loaded also.
Makes sure you are using the 32 bit ODBC Administrator and not the one in the 64 bit Control Panel. From the Start menu simply type in ODBC and you'll see the 32 bit ODBC link.
Also, I assume you are not using the Microsoft ODBC driver correct? It only supports Oracle 7.
Also, your Oracle Client must also be 32 bit and not the 64 bit version.
Don
I ran Modules and then run CR Designer. Yes it did have crdb_oracle in the list as well as lots or Oracle files.
The Crystal Reports version is 11.5.10.1263.
The crdb_oracle.dll is 11.5.10.1263
The oracle files are 10.2.0.1
When I try to set up a new report, here is what happens:
I launch CR. I select new report wizard. It asks me to select a connection.
There is nothing under:
Current Connections
Favorites
History
I go to create a new connection:
I choose ODBC (RDB) (Microsoft Driver)
I see the stpr06.world and it will not connect
I assume that this is because it is not oracle 7
So I then look under oracle server and there is nothing under it.
I want to thank you for all of the time that you are using to assist me, but I have several more projects that hinge upon getting to the bottom of this.
Pam
Hi Pam,
that would be your problem.... Don't use Microsoft's Oracle ODBC driver, it only supports Oracle 7. You'll have to use Oracle's or DataDirect's ODBC driver or simply use the Native Oracle Server listed in the DB Wizard. If it's not listed then you need to do a Custom Install and select it from the list in CR Designer installer.
Thank you
Don
Hi Don and everybody,
I am doing Testing and Development for the new WINDOWS 7 x64bits capacity compatibility project which I'm
needed using BaaN ERP function to submit a email to forwarder, and it needed to perform by Crystal Report with
The currently situation is:
1) I have install the latest version of Crystal report for WIN 7 x64bits, and its support SP6.
2) I have install the Oracle database 11g
3) BaaN version 8.4a.02.8
The currently major issue is cannot config and setting ODBC connection correctly, as I am keep on getting steps with my target closer but stuck on the ODBC setting phase.
Any quick response will be very appreciated.
Hello Tienjun
I am not sure why you attached your self to this Discussion as opposed to creating a new Discussion. Particularly since your issue is very different in that you are using Oracle 11g and "latest version of Crystal report for WIN 7 x64bits, and its support SP6", whereas this Discussion is CR XI (11.0) and Oracle 10.
E.g.; please create a new Discussion. Also, rather than stating:
latest version of Crystal report for WIN 7 x64bits, and its support SP6
provide the exact version of CR you are using (Help | About).
Finally, have a peek at the SCN Rules of Engagement.
