How to enable Auto Complete option in SAP

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hello Guru,

i want to enable my auto complete option in my system so as to get the past transaction or any codes quickly by pressing SPACEBAR, all other systems have this feature, they just by pressing spacebar get their TCodes or any inputs instead of typing the whole.

i also tried by getting into customizing layout in SAP system and turned on its history, but still its not coming. what may be the reason???.

all my colleagues have this feature in their system. and even after changing their setting its coming

pls revert asap, as i will not waste my time in writing the whole Tcodes.

I tried many suggested solutions mentioned here and in different articles until I came up today with a solution,,

1. enabling history:

  - go to SAP login

  - customize local layout (Alt+F12) [the colored screen icon]

  - options

  - local data

  - history

  - change history status to OFF > apply then again ON > apply

2. Clear History

  - in the same location where you are just click "Clear History" button

3. Delete old History data:

  - in the same location also, go to the input history path and copy it

  - go the browser and paste the path

  - you will find an MDB file usually named "SAPHistoryXXXXX"

  - delete this file

  - close all open windows including SAP GUI

  - run SAP and login, problem should be resolved

Dear Jigar,

Please check properties at entries on SAP logon, it is possible on Network Settings Tab you had selected "Slow connection" It disables all pictures and also history on form fields.

I had the same problem, I changed "Slow connection" to "Fast Connection (LAN)" now everything is OK.

Kind regards,

Carlos

Hi, Was this issue resolved after reinstalling GUI. Im facing a similar issue.

Please help with steps if there is a different way to retrieve history. Thanks.

I am not sure if there is option for retrieve the history?

but why do you need to retrieve the history?  is that so critical?

just activate now so going forward, it will propose the last value in that field.

Jigar,

SAP calls this 'Local Data', it is a function of your GUI settings and not of SAP config.

Open an SAP session using the gui. I am using gui 7.2, the location of this command has changed a bit over the various GUI versions, but I will get you into the general area. On the top icon bar, select the colorful icon on the right > options. Find Local Data (either a tab or a menu item). Under History, select 'On'. Make any other settings that meet your fancy. Then, Apply > OK.

Log off, then log on. Your local data should now be enabled.

i had tried that no of times but still the same,

Jigar,

If my solution does not add the feature you seek, then there is an error with your SAPGUI software. Reinstall your SAPGUI. If that doesn't work, raise a message with SAP.

It will work Jigar.

I think you made the changes and just tried to check with spacebar.

but i understand initially History was off so nothing in cathe..

so for first time, you need to enter this manually and next time you can check with space bar if its working or now. It should work.

Thanks
