HI
You can modify the u201Cdatabase\install\oraparam.iniu201D file.
Certified Versions
Windows=4.0,5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0,6.1
And try again installing Oracle.

)
which oracle version is supported on Win2008?

Hi DatabaseSAP,
Actually we purchased new IBM servers x3690 x5 and x3650 M3 for PRD Database and Application servers respectively. i have successfully performed the homogenous system copy on Window server 2003 R2.
FYI... currently PRD server is running on Window Server 2003 R2 with ECC 6.0 and oracle 10.2.0.4 now I want to upgrade the OS from window 2003 R2 to Window server 2008 and when I try to install Oracle client 10.2.0.1 on window server 2008 then i am getting above errors.
how can i overcome on above issues on window server 2008?
hi Deepakkori,

you mentioned the note 980426 but this note have not the configuration for windows in oraparam.ini file.
If you specify the new operating system version in the oraparam.ini file,
the Installer permits the installation on the new operating system also.
SuSE Linux SLES10 and SuSE Linux SLES11:
[Certified Versions]
Linux=redhat-3,SuSE-9,SuSE-10,redhat-4,UnitedLinux-1.0,asianux-1,asianux-2
[Certified Versions]
Linux=redhat-3,SuSE-9,SuSE-11,redhat-4,UnitedLinux-1.0,asianux-1,asianux-2
You will find the oraparam.ini file in the 'install' subdirectory of the Oracle stage.
Workaround #2: Deactivate the Installer checks
which setting i have to make for window 2008 in oraparam.ini file?
Regards,
Dear databaseSAP.
1st..
now i have download the
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7
from following link http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10203vista-087538.html and just overwrite the db folder of D51031678 >NT>AMD64-->database. now oracle installation is running fine.
2nd.
I downloaded the DVD ( 51036975- ORACLE 10.2.0.4 Failsafe Server 3.4.1.5 Windows 2008 ) and run the sapserver.cmd which is running fine.
what do you say about above methods mean both are ok if not then guide me about method of oracle 10.2 on window server 2008?
Regards,
majamil
Windows Server 2008 R2 supports Oracle 11.2.0 and 10.2.0.5
Both the DVDs you are talking, if it contains the Oracle version you want and if it runs fine you may proceed.
Only when you install SAP, it may or may not succeed if it fails to find files specific to the build. Ideally
there should be no issues.
Even if you install oracle 10.2.0.2 or 4 for some reason, I would always recommend to upgrade the oracle database,
which you may have to do anyways at a later stage.

Hi Majamil,
Refer SAP Note 980426 - Oracle 10.2 Software installation on new operating systems
It describes 4 different solutions for your problem. you can choose any 1 of them.

It says that oracle 10.2 is not supported on Win2008 (6.0/6.1)...
OS versions 5.1 or 5.2 are Windows 2003
Thanks
