Web Page Composer 2.0 (on 7.3 portal)

Hi all

Does any of you know how to perform the following tasks in a SAP NetWeaver 7.3 Portal with Web Page Composer 2.0 configured?

1) How to integrate an iview into a WPC page? In WPC 1.0 you could do this by creating an entry point that pointed towards a folder in the PCD structure.

2) How to create an iView that points directly to a WPC page? In WPC 1.0 you would need to create such an iview to include a single specific WPC page into a role. But with the new structure of WPC 2.0, it is then possible to integrate the published WPC page from the PCD-structure directly into a role?

Best regards,

Hi Arun

Thank you for the answers.

All your links point to WPC 1.0 documentation (WPC based on top of 7.0X portals).

Are you completely sure that it will work the same way in WPC 2.0 that comes with SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3?

Best regards,

Martin

Hi Arun

I can find my way through SAP Help Documentation and the funny part is that the 7.3 documentation does not mention how to integrate an iview into a WPC page or how to integrate a WPC page into an iview.

Hi Martin,

Regarding your first query how to integrate an iview into a WPC page.Get yourself assigned with 'Accessible Area Management ' role.In this role we are having an option to add the iview to an WPC page.

Accessible Area Management->content Editor->Staging Area-><your area>-> right click on the page->Open ->page

Accessible Area Management->content Editor->Portal Content->add your iview to the WPC page

Regarding your second query how to integrate a WPC page into an iview. We can add only the WPC content to an iview(WPC web content iview) not the WPC Page as we do in earlier versions.I have raised an message with SAP for the same.I will get back to you if i got solution.

If you find any solution to add WPC Page into an iview please do post here ..

Thanks

Hi Martin,

1. Add an iview to a WPC page:

When you a WPC for editing, in the Area Management role, on the right you see the COntent Providers. One of these is the Portal Repositiry. This is actually a location in the PCD where you can store iviews and then consume them as a whole in your WPC page. This pcd location is defined in the WPC properties, you can find the exact explanation here Link: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/e3/e5ef5f784e48308b8eabe1aedabb97/frameset.htm], the exact property is Location of Portal Applications.

You can also use the "Content Templates" content provider in the page editing screen to create KM iviews from the specified templates.

2. Adding a WPC page to an iview:

From what I understand you need this option to place a WPC page directly under a role. To do so you can use the following workaround:

a. Create an area in WPC. Name it as you would name the page you place under it.

b. Create a page under the area:

b.1. The name of the page and area should be identical.

b.2. Under "Navigation Settings" in the page wizard, check both properties: Set this page as the default entry in the area; Hide this page in navigation.

c. Create the desired content in the page, publish page and area.

Note that for this workaround you'll need to create a single page under each area and connect all areas to a portal role.

What happens in runtime is the following:

Under the portal role you see the area. Its name is the name of the page. You made the page as default, so it's the first page you see when navigating to the portal role. This is the only page you created under the area. The page is hidden in navigation, so you don't see it in the DTN.

Hope this helps,

Alex
