MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG - long time

HI

Our EHP upgrade running on subjected phase;

We are very sure, it is very expensive phase in TIME,

But my concern is

in folder

<EHP ROOT FOLDER>I/abap/log

none of the logs file stamps are not moving from last 1 hour.

how the log files will be updated in this phase

any clues ??

Look at /tmp, it should have some files written and updated.

Even /tmp contains same time on stamp on some which i see latest in /../abap/log folder

i connected SQL prompt and confirms , DB is active (not dead - not like not responding)

on my my GUI Screens still it is showing as running, no Error is flashing, once it stops with similar error, i think now i have fix in my basket.

In oracle alert_log, we can see some redo log switching messages

Thanks to both of you, I am still trying to see, where else we can monitor this dum time ( like)

Hi Srinivas,

Generally the RDDMASGL job runs in the shadow system during the ACT_UPG phase. Please check if this job is active and running in the shadow system and also please check the status of the job to check if it is really running.

As the logs are not getting updated, I suspect the job will be in active phase and actually it is not running so check on the job status will correct this and the logs will be automatically updated.

If this information does not help you, please post the upgrade logs to check the issue further.

Hi PR,

In this phase, i believe you can login to shadow instance. Login to shadow instance, and you should see few dialog wps and a btc are running.

Let us know how it goes. Also, you can check the work directory in Shadow Instance.

your inputs really went well. When i treid to execute your given steps

The shadow system was locked.

We unlocked it form the below command

.../EHPI/abap/bin/SAPehpi unlockshd <SID>..

after unlocking, We logged into Shadow instance and found

RDDMASGL was running in SM37

We selected that job and in Menu --> Job->Check Status

it turned to Cancelled.

i.e as you said - The was not actually running.

after few minutes the new " RDDMASGL" job started

Now We are sticking to SM37 Screen - to checking in some frequency

and making sure to discover it is really ruuning or not.

as well, now i see some DIA & BGD WP's are running in SM50.

Now gives a confidence that it is running now and i am not running thru DUM time

I also kept watch on SQL promot, that DB does not go down for any panic or for any reason and making sure DB is responding.

Thanks once again to both of you , I will keep you posted on this once it moves to next step of from ACT_UPG and lamp this message as answered.

The STEP was ended with error and was flashing to see a log - ACTUPG.ELG

and it was showing as

unlocked shadow system, and given to login my ABAP Experts, they fixed above and finally Installation moved to next step

MAIN_SHDRUN/MAIN_RSPTBFIL_DEST ...step in pre processing phase.

Hi Deepika,

I also have the same issue , Job RDDMASGL is running from 30 hrs . I have checked the error logs but not found any thing useful. I have also check for memory issues. I have cancelled the job and again restarted the SUM again but still the same issue.

can you please help on this.

My platform is windows and oracle

Out of memory in ACT_UPG phase during EHP Installation.
