Movement from one system to another system

Hi,

My client is moving it's test(quality) system from one system to another system. What does it mean ? Does it mean that they are moving from one client to another client for test system.

In this case all the copy things will be done by the SAP Basis team. What are we supposed to do as SAP APO Consultant?

Client is asking to replicate the jobs in another system ? What does this replication mean to me ?

Thanks,

Prabhat

Hi Prabhat,

Your first question can only be answered by your client. Most likely, they should be moving to a new system, but may be possible that they just create an additional client, and use it for testing purpose. Ask them.

You are correct. The Basis team will take care of the copying part. They would mostly copy the master data/transaction data and then change the connections to point from/to the nexy system/client.

The major issue that ciould happen in such cases that some of the connections could sometimes still be pointing to the old system/client, so connectivity between systems may be affected.

From your side, you should check in SCM Queue Manager /sapapo/cq, if connections between APO and R/3 are working fine or not. If there are blocked queues in APO or R/3, you should take care of the same.

If you use GATP, then you should check with some Sales Orders that GATP check is able to work fine.

Similarly also check that CIF jobs are able to send data from R/3 to APO and from APO side also, you are able to publish data to R/3 from APO e.g. PPDS, TLB, Deployment, etc whatever you use to send to R/3.

On the R/3 side, it's possible that your integration models may be pointing to the old system or client. As far as I know, these IMs would need to be updated manually and integration models would need to be generated/activated again.

Similarly, BW would be extracting data from the APO system. They would need to take actions related to datasource, so that they are still able to extract data.

During the copying, all the jobs also could also be copied by the Basis team. Check if they are not planning already for this. You would need to check that the jobs are able to finish successfully.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I suppose that your client is trying to do a system copy.

As you said, most work should be done by basis team, the copy of APO system, liveCache, and the jobs ...

As a APO consultant, you may just need to test whether the copied system is working fine after the copy is done.

Especially on the connection to R/3, and connection to liveCache.

LiveCache copy is a step that tends to occur problems, so you should also take care of the liveCache copy together with your basis team. There're some SAP notes in component "BC-DB-LVC" and "BC-DB-LCA". If you search with key word "system copy", you can find some useful. But anyway it's basis thing, so ...
