SAP BI Installation help

Hi All,

We want to install SAP BI.

For this

1. where can I get installation Guides?

2. from where should I download its media?

3. what are its pre-requisites?

4. Which platforms it supports?

5. How much space needed for installation?

6. Is it Add-on type installation?

Please help us.

Hi Ishan,

There is no section specific to BI. The installation of Netweaver is

standard. You will simply need to select the BI usage type in the

Dialog Phase of the installation and this will install BI for you. There

is no other difference.

The only other document that exists is the following one

Guidelines for Implementing SAP NetWeaver BI Business Content

which is available at the following site

I am getting confused when and where should I select BI during installation?

Can we get it during installation of SAP ECC 6 EHP5?

We have option of selecting BI JAVA(in SAP Netweaver Unit) during installation of ECC 6 EHP 5 Select ERP and SAP NetWeaver Software Units Phase (Is this the one which we want?)

We already installed ECC 6 EHP5, now can we add it?

You should install regular NW system and install BI CONT on top of netweaver system and activate the BI client.

Can we get it during installation of SAP ECC 6 EHP5?

No, You dont get BI CONT installed with SAP ECC 6 EHP5

BI JAVA is different for BI ABAP, SAP recommends to use BI ABAP and JAVA seperately.

You can install BI CONT in ECC6 EHP5, but I would suggest you to create dedicated system for SAP BW rather than using ECC.

I am getting confused about SAP BI and SAP BOBI(SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence Suite 4.0).

Are both same or different?

Under SAP BOBI I got installation guide named

Business Intelligence Platform Installation Guide

for SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.0 SP2

Is it the same that I am looking for?

I also got one result for SAP Best Practices for Business Intelligence. That's another thing, we don't need it.

meanwhile I am going through SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP2 Guides.

Both are like East and North....They are connected to each other but different. Just install SAP NetWeaver and install BI CONT and activate BW client. Thats it...

Don't worry about Best practices installation....If you get confused...there is no end to it...
