Hi Rchavan,

LTP means:

This component provides support for long-term production planning and for carrying out simulations in short and mid-term planning.

To carry out an annual planning or a rolling quarterly planning run you require information on the future stock and requirements situation. This means you need to know how sales and operations planning influence resources. That is, whether the results of sales planning can actually be produced with capacity on hand. If such information is available it is possible to decide at an early date whether extra work centers will be required to cope with bottlenecks, or whether additional machinery will have to be purchased to reach the sales target.

In long-term planning you can also plan materials that usually require very little planning in operative planning, such as, materials planned using reorder point planning, bulk material, and materials planned using KANBAN. In long-term planning, you can plan these materials as you would MRP materials. This provides you with an overview of how these materials influence the demand program.

The purchasing department can also use the results of long-term planning. They use the information on the future requirements quantities to estimate future orders. This provides them with a basis for negotiating delivery schedules and contracts with vendors. Vendors also gain from long-term planning as they are sent a preview of future purchase orders

Steps:

A. Create a planning scenario for plant by T-Code MS31

B. Create a demand in MD61 in inactive version.

C. Then go to MS32 and assign this planning scenario and then release it.

4. Go to MS21 to check the planning file entries are made (make sure).

5. Then run the simulation run in MS02 and you can find the planned orders in MS04.

6. Then convert the planned orders to production order.

I hope it helps you any queries please revert me back.

Dear Madhu,

Simulated Planned Orders obtained from LTP run cannot be converted into production orders.

Check whether are you able to see the conversion keys for a simulated planned orders in MS04.

Hi Mangalraj,

I am sorry typed wrongly:

Actually:

When we create the planning scenario in MS31 then the demand in MS32 should be activated then we will go to MC87 which is rough cut planning in inactive version created here we transfer MC87 to demand in inactive version we can see it in MC74.

Then in MS02 for single item, multilevel in inactive version here we can not view the MRP planning in MD02.

Then go to MS04 and run it.

In MS04 the planned orders click it on to go to change mode for capacity situation and evaluation & leveling.

We come back to MS32 to change the LTP in inactive mode to active mode here we have to give the target screen create list.

Now we can see the planned orders or conversion or production orders in MD04 screen because it is activated in demand management MC74.

I hope this is bit clear Mr. Mangalraj.

Regards,

Madhu.G

LONG TERM PLANNING Long Term Planning is used for the Materials which have Long Lead Times. This is a Simulation Planning Run Carried out to evaluate the Material and Capacity Requirements and to see the overall capacity situation and Material Availability. When the Plan is approved then it is transferred in to Operative Planning. Steps Involved In Long Term Planning: 1)Create Finished Material (FERT).  2)Create Raw Materials ROH and Create BOM for the Finished Product.  3) Make sure that the work Centers you are using are relevant to Long term Planning. We can do this in Capacity Tab of the Work Center.  4) Create Routing and Production Versions.  5)Create Inactive Plan MD61, in Simulation Version. Make Sure that the Plan is in inactive Mode. The Active Button is not checked; hence the Version is inactive. Save the Plan in inactive Mode.  6.Create a Planning Scenario, in MS31  Assign Planned Independent Requirements to the Planning Scenario. Click on Planned Independent Requirement Button. System will generate a pop-up asking the Version. Click Enter the Inactive Version Plan which you have created in MD61, and give from and to dates, Click  Assign Plant to the Planning Scenario. Click on Plants. system will generate a pop-up Click on Enter the Plant. Press  Release the Planning Scenario Press The system will generate a pop-up Press The system will generate a pop-up, whether the planning file entries are to be created ? Press Planning File entries are created by System.   7)Configure Scheduling Parameters for the Planning Scenario, in OPU5. Select the plant line item and double click on long Term Planning. Press Configure the scheduling parameters for the Planning Scenario. With parameters as shown in the below Screen Shot. And Press Save .  8.Carry Out MRP Run in MS02, Simulation Run Give the Planning Scenario 150, Give all the Parameters. Press Enter again. Select Proceed without stopping. Press  9. Go to MS04 and check the Stock Requirement list. Check all the Dependent Requirements and all MRP Elements. Put Cursor on Planned Order and Press for Dependent Requirements, Analyse the Material Availability for the Particular Order. Double click on a Planned Order; we can not convert planned order into production order button. We cannot convert planned order in to Production Order. When The Simulation Plan is approved then it can be transferred to Operative Planning.  11. Transferring Long Term Planing Data to Operative Plan Go to MS32 and Activate Planned Independent Requirements. Press Give target version as 00 (Requirements Plan) Check the check Boxes Press All the requirements of all the materials with plan saved in 01 Simulation version are copied in to 00 Requirements Plan. This can be seen in above Screen Shot. (OR) you can convert the simulative plan to operative plan through copy version(MS64) Here, put tick mark for target active version, un check no data base changes and mention source version and target version and press F8. Then you can see those requirements in active mode in MD62 screen in 00 requirement plan. Go to MD62 you can see the Demand Plan saved in Requirements version 00. You can see the simulative Plan is transferred to Requirements plan after simulative run. Plan is been transferred to Operative Planning. Carry out Normal Operative Planning MD02. MRP RUN MD04 Stock Requirements list.  12) If you want to convert only one planned order from simulation plan to operative planning, then go to MS04 screen, click that plan order, go fro change mode and make that order firm by clicking on check box. go for change mode. Now make that order firm by clicking on check box. and save it. Now you can see that that planned order is firmed(star mark on that planned order) Now go to MD43 for single item planning press enter Click on edit in header and click on copy simulative long term planned orders, it will be asking for planning scenario Give planning scenario, interval dates and click on and save it. Now go to md04 and check the same planned order which we got in md43 screen will appear in md04 screen. In this way we can transfer simulative to operative plan for single planned order in long term planning. From here, we can convert planned order to production order.  13) We can perform long term planning by incoming sales order through transaction code MS50 Press enter after mrp run, save it click on now to go to MS04 press enter here you can see planned order has been created in simulative mode, you can convert it to operative mode and proceed the cycle with single item planning(MD43). To perform long term planning for sales order, you have to give tick mark for consider sales order in planning scenario( MS32).  14) If you wan to see your demand in simulation mode, then you can go for MS65 Press enter  15) If you want to delete your mrp list, then you can go for MS08 and press F8 go to MS05 press enter, then it will show Advantages of long term planning 1) same master data of the operational MRP is used.  2) Comparison of the operational MRP vs simulate MRP.  3) Planning for all MRP levels.  4) It allows you to simulate demand(sales forecast ) to see what new kinds of capacity requirements are created and new planned material requirements for lower level assemblies and components.  5) If you are happy with the results of the simulated planned orders, you can make them operational.  6) In long term planning, various versions of the master plan are created which are each tested, in simulate mode, in the planning run and in capacity planning.  7) The system thus calculates the capacity requirements, the activity category requirements of the cost centers and the purchased parts requirements.  😎 You can plan for next year requirements and the budgets and purchasing information. You can see it in MS70( SET UP PURCHASING INFO DATA FROM LONG TERM PLANNING).  .  Regards,  B. Jagdish Kumar
