UWL Page Refresh Rate setting

Hello,

Is there a global setting where I can set the UWL "Page Refesh Rate" time to 1 min for all users.

Right now individual user can go to page personilization and from there they can select the UWL "Page Refresh Rate" and set the time.

Is there any way from where I can set it globaly for all users and for all for all UWL items.

Hi Debasish,

You have to enable Delta Pull Mechanism in UWL.

To achieve this, you have to do some configuration from UWL and backend as well.

Hi Raja,

My need is to regresh the UWL iview and not delta pull mechanism. Our UWL Cache Refresh Time is set to 1 min and after every 1 min the items are called and refreshed in the UWL cache. But the UWL iview should also be refreshed.

Right now the UWL iview "Page Refresh Time" can be changed from iview personilization by each individual user(Default setting is 5 mins).

I want to set this value to 1 min for all users through a global setting.

Do you mean Default Cache Validity Period service parameter of UWL?

Hi Raja,

In our environment the "Default Cache Validity Period" is already set to 1 min. So after every 1 min a call is made and items are fetched from the backend and stored in portal UWL cache.

But the UWL iview should also be freshed after 1 min so that it fetches the lateset items from the portal UWL cache. Right now this value is set as 5 Mins by default and can be changed from iview personilization by each users.

I am looking for a global settings to set this iview parameter to 1 min by default.

Hi Deb,

I don't know if you have already given this a try but with every "View" definition in the UWL's XML file (uwl.standard) there is a refresh parameter associated, the default value of which is 300 seconds - 5 mins. You can try changing that to 60 seconds and see if the iView - particularly the UWL view (DefaultView by default) behaves the way you want it to. For more info, check this link

Hi Deb,

In your xml file, find the word refresh. Here you will see it is = 300 by default. This is in seconds, so this means every user will have their page refresh rate set to 5 minutes, unless configured otherwise, through personalization, or xml file.

The wiki page mentions:

Alternatively the page refresh rate can be configured directly in the xml file for all users. This parameter is displayed as "refresh" = 300 by default. The value is in seconds. (For more information see: Views ). The smallest that this value can be set is 1 minute.

So the smallest value you can set this to in the xml file is 60 seconds. Please ensure when you have uploaded your new file, that you rename it, upload it with high priority, then reregister the connector and clear the UWL cache.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for you reply. I am aware of this refresh option setting in the xml file through one of your wiki articles. But when I opened the xml file I found there are multiple occourance of the parameter "refresh=300". Do I need to change all the entries corresponding to refresh.

I was looking for a single setting (if available) which will change the setting of the complete UWL iview irrespective of the work items. Also why do I need to re-register the connector after making the changes as I am NOT changing the webflow connector xml.

Can you please confirm which xml do I need to change.

Hello,

Yes please change refresh = 300 throughout the file. Do not change it to lower than 60 seconds for performance reasons and please also ensure that you are still conforming to the standards for the KBA & wiki page for performance.
