Cancelling a Production Order

Former Member

I have created a Production order from a Production BOM. I have changed the status of the Production order to Released. I now want to cancel that Production order and return all components to inventory. When I try to cancel I get the error message.

"Action is valid for planned or released production orders with no transactions "

What transactions would this be referring to ?

Hi,

If you have already issued components for this Production Order, you may not be cancel it. You need to receive it and then dissemble it.

Thanks,

Perhaps I have done the process incorrectly. My procedure has been to create the Production Order, change the status to Released and then I've done a receipt from Production, which put the item I was "building" in stock. Which I then sold via a Sales order. I did not do an Issue for Production. So the Production Order I want to cancel has already been received but I do not have the option to disassemble.

Greetings of the day.

Mr. Christian, the Production module in SAP is just basic.

There are two different types of Production Orders in B1. One for Assembly of components and other for manufacturing.

For manufacturing and assembly, you make a production order, release it, issue components and then report completion and YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE PRODUCTION ORDER.

For manufacturing production order, if the item is rejected, then you have to go to Report completion and then Return component and deselect the header item and say complete, so that the components either in assembly or raw materials (row Item in Production order) automatically get credited back to the store from where they were issued.

For Assembly, u have to do the same process, but deselect the row items of Production order and return, so that the assembled product does not go to respective warehouse.

You need to make a SP transaction or an automation using SDK to automatically close the production order, but once the production order is closed, then you cannot do return components.

thanks.

Hi Christian........

The process would be,

If you have punched Production order Planned or Released level you can still cancel.

But if you have done Issue for Production then you may still cancel Production order but by doing Return Components.

Once you do Receipt from Production you and you want to cancel production order you have to perform Disassembly Production order..........

Hope this helps you.....

Rahul

I do not see a choice for the type of Production order, nor do I see any option called "Report Completion". Manually closing the order is not the issue. I want to cancel it since it can not be completed and I would like the cancellation process to return all the components to inventory so I do not have to do it manually.

According to another response I have gotten, because my method is backflush, the Issue for Production is done automatically. In some cases I have already done a receipt to production. In either case, I would like to put all the components back to inventory. In either case, I do not see an option for eith returning components or for disassemble production order. Where would I find these options. I am still on SBO 2007

It is not clear, which item have you sold. And why do you want to reverse the production process.

If you sold an item which was physically in the warehouse without a production process (but was not registered in the system it's existence) and you mistakenly started a production process in the system, then you could make a goods receive to base the item's existence and later can make a disassembly production order to get the component back to the stock.

Once you received the Production Order, you will have only one option to reverse it: Create a same Production Order as Disassemble type. Then do Issue for Production.
