can any body tell me why and when should we use transport of copies and transport request respectively.
Hello Faisal,
The definition for transport of copies can be found at
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/57/38e1a94eb711d182bf0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
In simple, transport of copies acts like ( Copy & paste ) rather than transport.
Hence, you can create transport of copies and transfer to systems which are not in the system transport landscape and different version etc.,
It does not influence the orginal system in anyways like locking the objects involved.
Thanks,
Sheik

Hi Faisal,
A transport of copies does not lock the objects included.
Also it doesn't check for things like original system or repairs when importing it into the target. You can also specify any system in your landscape as a target, irrespective of the transport routes.
The transport will also not be logged in version management of the object.
Normally you should only use it in exceptional case, as all these points mean extra risk.
Hope this helps,
Pieter

transport copies are useful particularly for adding include objects from other reqests. meaning you can add some of the tasks from other requests for specific requirements.
Hope it helps.
