We had a problem on month end processing performance. We found the solution of setting deletion flag to production orders might be helpful. However, the action failed with the error message 'Purchase order xxxxxx still exists' . There were some subcontracting PO related to the production orders but they were finished already.
Would someone help to guide how to set deletion flag under this situation? Thanks in advance.
First try to complete the Purchase orders and then try to close the Production orders this might work.
If you face the problem of unable to close the Purchase order, previously we faced the same problem when we referred this to SAP thru OSS message SAP came back with a Conversion program, unfortunately I do not exactly remember the program name.
I suggest you to refer this to SAP, as this would help you.

Hi Jessica,
For your month end processing why do you set deletion flag to production orders?
If you TECO the orders the dependent reservation items including your open P.O's will be closed automatically.
There is no need to set deletion flag except for archiving purpose.

Hi Jessica,
You are facing problems because you have already created purchse orders w.r.t to that production order and may be you have done goods receipt also.
This means that this production order is already in use.In order to set deletion flag you have to archive all the documents related to this particular production order and then you will be able to set the deletion flag.
Reward points if it helps.
