BOBJ 4.0 BW 7.3 Integration- Change SAP BW password other than using SAP GUI?

We are integrating BOBJ 4.0 reporting with SAP BW 7.3 as back-end database.

We enabled Single Sign-On (SSO) between BW and BO using following steps.

How to setup SSO against SAP BW with SAP BO BI4.0 Common Semantic
Layer (UNX) or BICS

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/How+to+setup+SSO+against+SAP+BW+with+SAP+BO+BI4.0+Common+S...

At this time we didn't map SAP users and LDAP users in SBO BI4.0 CMC due to project scope and internal challenges.

User will login to BI launch pad either by using SAP id or Enterprise id to run BO reports without having to provide their credentials again to BW.

This SSO setup is working fine. Our concern is what will happen if user SAP BW password expires.

Is it possible for the user to change SAP BW password from BOBJ launch pad? If yes then how?

Never expiring password is not an option and we want to avoid end user to login to BW system to change password.

What are the best practices to implement this scenario to have end user change SAP BW password other than using SAP GUI?

Thanks!

Moorthy

Hi

There is currently no functionality to change the passwords for 3rd party authentication through the BI Launchpad. SAP BI4.0 can only read from the 3rd party directories.

Do your users normally not have access to the SAP Gui? Or asked differently: Is there a possibility to give your users access to the SAP Gui to change the password?

For some reason our BOBJ users are able to login to BI Launchpad using the initial password set by the administrator without first changing the initial password on the SAP GUI side. How is this possible? This is a security risk in my mind since the user is never forced to change the password from the initial value as long as they never try to login from the GUI. Has anyone ever seen this before and if so, is there a way to prevent it?

Thanks,

Michael

Thank you Roland and Seb for your information and suggestions.

These are non-SAP/Management users who don't work on SAP systems but have access to Launch Pad to run reports from SAP and non-SAP sources. Trying to avoid installing SAP GUI on their machines and access to BW system just for password change.

Thanks!

Moorthy.
