SAP MDM and OpenText ECM connection

Is it possible to keep documents of Master Data Management inside Opentext Content Server ? If yes, which middleware is used to do this and can we make business references to the MDM data from Content Server.

Hi Kerim

You can use the web service API of OpenText Content Server and build an integration by yourself. Content Server does not have an out-of-the box integration into SAP MDM.

However, there is a new offering of SAP called SAP MDG (Master Data Governance) that offers similar capabilities as SAP MDM. SAP MDM can be used in combination with SAP Extended ECM by OpenText. In SAP MDG you can make business references to the MDG data from Content Server. No additional middleware is needed for SAP MDG.

Thanks for your answer. I am researching about SAP MDG.

Actually we just want to keep binary type (big size) documents inside Opentext content server and distribute it whenever MDM needs. There is a project outgoing, so we have to keep moving with MDM.

A straightforward, quite simple approach would be to store inside MDM just urls to documents inside OpenText Content Server.

Yes It is possible to reach like this but endusers of this project wants to see all pictures etc. inside MDM interface or Portal. Content server must be a storage location so users shouldn't go there by following a link.

Hello Kerim,

     In MDM  attributes, taxonomy's, hierarchies ...etc are applied for transformation.. de-duplication... etc..etc

   Even OTCS does the same thing in a way but for a different purpose

    I don't say MDM & CS offer the exact same functionalities.

    If your intention of using OTCS is for just storing the images and make them available in MDM, then you should use term Archive server(OTAS) instead of Content server.

Note: SAP CS is not in same terminology as OTCS.
