Hi
In Posting Periods what is the difference in Closing Period & Locked . When Closing Period & when Locked Status should be done . They are to be done manually or they are done automatically at some stage.
Thanks
Hi Sunny......
When you crossed the Period then it gets automatically turns to Closing Period and if you want to restrict any user not to do any backdated entries for that particular Period then it would be locked.....
For more info please check this....
Assign to the posting period the required status: Unlocked – All users, with respect to their authorizations, can post all types of transactions and documents to this period. This status is assigned by default to new posting periods. Unlocked Except Sales – All users with respect to their authorizations, can post to this period all types of transactions and documents, except for documents of the Sales – A/R module. Assign this status once the period ends, but there are still purchasing documents, such as late A/P invoices, and other transactions that should be posted to this period.

Hello,
Closing Period
- can be configured to be done automatically after xx days at Administration > System Initialization > Posting Period screen
- only authorised user can do posting in Closing Period (can set authorization)
- used to restrict non-authrised users to anyhow create posting to previous or earlier months
Locked
- can only change manually
- all users, even superuser cannot do any posting in Locked Period (no authorization can be set)
- used when authorised users have completed month-end closing and want to prevent anymore posting to previous or earlier months
Thanks and Regards,
Lay Chin

Hi,
Locked should be done manually. It is not automatically set.
Thanks, Gordon
