Portal upgrade from 7.0 to 7.3

I need to upgrade portal 7.0 to 7.3.

I am going thro’ standard upgrade guide for the same. I have created maintenance transaction and downloaded all required files for upgrade.

I have confusion which tool  to use. I  upgrade guide I can find the below lines to start but I do not have idea how to download this upgrade master DVD, I have tried to download  SAPupLMT002_23-20007745.SAR but it did not help.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mount the Upgrade Master DVD.

Log on to the host on which the primary application server instance is running as user <sapsid>adm.

Start the STARTUP script from the command line with the following command:

<DVD drive>:\ STARTUP.BAT

If you want to use a different upgrade directory than the default one, then additionally specify the upgrade directory path:

<DVD drive>:\ STARTUP.BAT "upgdir=<upgrade directory>"

If you are running several upgrades in parallel on the same host, you have to use different port numbers for each. When you start the upgrade program, specify the port numbers as follows:

httpport=<http port number>

guiport=<GUI port number>

-srvag=/DSUService/javatoolport

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you please guide me.

Thanks

Atul

Hi Lata

I got it in below path

The Software Update Manager is available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Support Packages and Patches -> A-Z Index -> "S" -> SL TOOLSET -> SL TOOLSET 1.0 -> Entry by Component -> SOFTWARE UPDATE MANAGER (SUM)

One doubt : I have downloaded the files required for portal 7.0 to 7.3 upgrade from maintenance transaction. Do I need any other files as well for this upgrade?

Also I have downloaded SUM and I tried to extract it.  It extracted many files but at last it gave error as given in below snap. Snap also contains the folders .

Please help me.

Thanks

Hi

We are upgrading our portal system from 7.01 release to 730 release. We
are stuck in configuration step. Error message is as given below :

om.sap.sdt.j2ee.services.servicesimpl.CheckInstancesService.checkDialogInstancesDetected(CheckInstancesService.java:131) [Thread[main,5,main]]:
There is a mismatch between the dialog instances detected by the
maintenance procedure and <br>the dialog instances read from
Configuration Manager. Possible reasons can be: <br> Dialog instances
were removed before starting the maintenance procedure and SAP Note
871523 was not applied afterwards. <br> Some of the dialog instances
were not up and running when the procedure was started. <br><b>Dialog
instances detected by the maintenance procedure</b>:<br> none <b>Dialog
instances read from Configuration Manager</b>: ID164083;

We do have only instance which is central instance. We never had dialog
instance. The id mentioned in the log file is our instance id ie
ID64083. We have checked everywhere in config tool and
instance.properties and the instance id is same as mentioned above.

We have checked all the places but we could not find any ther instance ID. Can some one help us

Thanks

Make sure SAP parameter in instance profile j2ee/instance_id value and the instance id mentioned in configtool is same.

If not change the profile parameter value to the one mentioned in configtool.

Hello All

We have changed the instance id in bootstrap.properties and we were
able to go ahead.

However we Now SUM tool is asking us the DVD's as shown in attached
document. It do not have extraction phase. We have all SAR files
downloaded by using the solution manager. As per SUM guide it should
extract required patch from SAR files

tp://service.sap.com/swdc -> Support Packages and Patches -> A-Z
Index -> "S" -> SL TOOLSET -> SL TOOLSET 1.0 -> Entry by Component ->
SOFTWARE UPDATE MANAGER (SUM)-->SUM10SP04_0-20006676.SAR

Can you please help us. Are we uing wrong version of SUM.

Thanks

Hello Atul,

MOPZ will only gives you list of support pakages needed for the upgrade, not about the DVDS required for the upgrade.

You need to download required cds and put it in the download directories and  try to provide the mount points and then continue..

If it doesn't take it then I guess you need to start it from the start.
