BOBJ4 URL issue

Former Member

Hi All,

I just finished BOBJ4 installation successfully. The SQL server database I choosen in the integrated one.

When I try to Launch the CMC by going to:

Start > Programs > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4 > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform Central Management Console

The Link open like this --> http://localhost:8080/BOE/CMC, Now my question is why it is opening with localhost instead of hostname or IP of the server. If I try to replace the localhost with IP or hostname it doesn't open.

Same thing happens for BI Launch pad, the link opens with --> http://localhost:8080/BOE/BI

The second thing is all the activities I am doing in the windows server where the BOBJ installed. But I am unable to open these from any other machine in the same network. Like we are accessing SAP netweaver j2ee engine using nwa, useradmin etc.

Note: In the Central Configuration manager, the following services are running

Sudip

Hi,

Please if you can share how to change the URL of the server from:

https://<IP address>/BOE/BI

to just

https://<IPaddress>

The issue is caused by Windows IE ESC blocking the port.  You need to add rules at the firewall to allow communication on certain ports as outlined in the administrators guide.

Step1

Quick Test

Turn off IE ESC and retest, if it works it is the problem.

Step 2

Consult the Admin guide for the ports that are required CMS, FRS, Tomcat and add the firewall rules to allow

Step 3

Enable IE ESC again and retest

Step 4

Test from browser and client tools (IDT, WEBI, Dashboards) to ensure that communication is working

Hi,

from you Client, can you Ping the Server where SAP BI is installed by IP Address, Hostname and FQDN?

Open TCP Port 8080 bi- directional on all Firewalls between your Client and the SAP BI Server. Please keep also the Windows Firewall in mind.

Sundip,

You need to check you FireWall settings under Windows 2008. Quick test:

- Find out the IP address of the BI 4.0 Server

- From remote machine make sure you can ping - IP Address

- Now try to http://<IP Address>:8080

- Finally try http://<IP Address>:8080/BI/CMC

- Once that work try http://<ServerName>:8080/BI/CMC

Ajay Gupta

Hopefully this will help you out

Hello,

The localhost in the url is the host where your web application is set up( and not the BO), in this case it's tomcat.

Replacing the localhost with actual server name or ip should work. Make sure you have maintained your hosts file and also check internet security options.

I think there are settings for changing the default value from localhost to actual hostname.

In case you need to access the CMC and BI launch pad from any other server, you have to compulsorily replace localhost with the actual server name. Sometimes due to firewall issues, you may not be able to access it. Ask the admin team to unblock the ports used by BOE ( 8080,6400,6410 etc )

Hello

Try disabling all windows firewalls, it helped me to solve the issue (could not open CMS from other computers).

Hi Sonia,

How do you replace the local host with the actual hostname?

try adding the http://<servername>:8080/BOE/CMC to the "Trusted Sites"(IE -> Tools->Internet Options-> Security)  in the Internet Explorer and restart tthe browser and try again.
