i think it is because i am not allowed to download it at this point.

Yes, you're right. It's because you do not have appropriate authorization there.

The latest available IDES is for SAP CRM 7.0 EhP 1.

There is no IDES available for EhP 2 yet. But by the way SAP CRM 7.0 EhP 2 is generally available from 07.05.2012.

IDES is for SAP CRM 7.0 EhP 1 is it the same as SAP IDES 2007?

Amal,

what do you mean under "the same"? SAP IDES 2007 is IDES for SAP CRM 2007 I believe. Not to confuse you: SAP CRM 2007 is 6.0 version of SAP CRM software.

So SAP IDES 2007 is for SAP CRM 6.0. And IDES for SAP CRM 7.0 Ehp1 seems to be two versions fresher.

in case someone else is running into this question: I found on https://service.sap.com/ides the hint: "IDES SAP CRM 7.0 incl. EHP2, please read the note 1788279"
