Significance of 'Design Drawing' section in Material Master Basic Data 2 view

Hi,

Been trying to figure this out for a while.Could anyone apprise of the significance of the 'Design Drawing' section in Material Master Basic Data 2 view.The fields available herein are Document,Document type,Version,Page no,Change no,Page format,No of sheets.Currently,they are free form texts.One thing for sure is that there is no relation of this with Additional Data > Document Data and Design Documents assigned.

How do we leverage this section from a MM perspective? Is it that this field is used to establish a relation with CAD data directly over and above SAP DMS? Wouldn't this lead to issues as regards to data integrity?

Hi,

generally I think that this question could be answered by material master experts better. So I will move this thread to the correct space.

From DMS point of view please note that The data on the basic data 2 screen pertains
only to the document type specified in transaction OMT0, however other links are still valid as displayed in the extras\document data screen. Also as the F1 help describes about the Flag:

"Links are only displayed here if the drawings/documents are assigned the document type specified in "Material Master" Customizing as the standard document type".

So please check the settings in OMT0 for the document type you are using. The linked documents from DMS (e.g. CV01N) will be displayed under'Additional Data' button on tab 'Documents'.
