upgrade from ecc5 to ecc6 ehp5 - sum or ehpi

Hi all,

im a little bit confused, im planning the abap upgrade from ecc5 to ecc6 ehp5 but i cant find out right information about wich tool is supported for this activity.

Regarding SAP note 1626284 seems that in my situation the software update manager is not yet supported...

Can anyone confirm?

Hello,

I believe you meant ECC 5.0 to EHP5 (as mentioned in your actual question.)

If you are planning to EHP6, then you should use the SUM tool. This is mentioned in the Note

1626284.

So to summarize,

ECC 5.0 to EHP5 ===> SAPup

ECC 5.0 to EHP6 ===> SUM

Hello Doris,

I do confirm Gaurav's information: you must use SAPup lmt_001 to upgrade your ECC5 system to ECC6+EHP5, because it runs over Netweaver 702. See note #1299009.

If you were going to ECC6+EHP6, which runs over Netweaver 703, you would have to use SUM SP04 (see note #1626284).

Hello Tomas,

    I have the same issue.  I need to do the same work but the problem is when I go to use sum, I have this error:

"You cannot use SUM to update your system from SAP NETWEAVER 04 to SAPEHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0."

     We try to go from SAP ERP 2004 to SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 04 NW7.01. In our Solution Manager We generated .xml file for SAP ERP 6.0 EHP04 NW 7.01 version. Now, our old system (SAP ERP 2004) is working withwindows 2003 SR2 (Core NT 5.2) and MSqlserver 2005.

       Really, can i use SAP SUM software? How can I do the upgrade?

       How can I use SAPup? because I don't find the master upgrade that can do it.

        could you help me? I need find this master upgrade with sapup that you mentioned.

Hi Manuel,

on this case you have to use SAPup 701, see note #1293744. (since the target is NW 701)

You can't use SUM at all for this upgrade path, see the following document:

See the paths supported for SUM SP13 (mostly the same for SP14).

it is clear, that it is not possible to use SUM for target release SAP
Business Suite 7 Innovations 2010 from the ECC 5.0

Please refer below mentioned section:

Updating to SAP Business Suite 7 Innovation 2010 (enhancement
package installation) for the following update paths:

-  Updating from SAP ERP 6.0
-  Updating from SAP ERP 6.0 including enhancement package 1, 2,
   or 3
-  Updating from SAP Business Suite 7 (SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4, SAP CRM
   7.0, SAP SCM 7.0, SAP SRM 7.0)
-  Updating from SAP NetWeaver 7.3 Java Hub systems which have
   Business Suite 7 applications installed on top
-  Updating from SAP NetWeaver 7.3 EHP1 Java Hub systems which
   have Business Suite 7 applications installed on top

Please correct me if I am wrong. You want to upgrade

Source System: ECC 5 NW 2004
Target System: ECC 6.0 EHP5 NW 702 (SAP Business Suite 7 Innovations
2010) is right.

For your target release you have to use the SAPup tool.
The correct note will be

1299009    Central Note: Upgrade Systems on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP 2

Please download the latest tool according to the note.

With version upgrade from ECC 5 to ECC6 EHP5 , you will use SAPup .

You will have to download the Upgrade master DVD and then start the upgrade.

From later releases as described by Nicholas , the SAPEHPI and SAPup would be one unified tool which is SUM.

So enhancement package installation and version upgrade would be done by SUM.
