SM: GET CSN COMPONETS Failing with RFC error

Hi,

The SAP standard job SM: GET CSN COMPONETS has been failing in our Production system continuously for 4 weeks now. This is a weekly job scheduled to run every Thursday in our system and utilizes the program/report DSWP_GET_CSN_COMPONENTS.

The error which is observed in the job log is “RFC Error: Error when opening an RFC connection. Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE”

SM21 logs for the same time stamp shows the error message as “Communication error, CPIC return code 017, SAP return code 236”.

However, connection test for all the RFC connections to SAPOSS have been successful.

We are of the opinion that the Job is triggering the CPIC error whenever it is scheduled to run; as otherwise there is no CPIC error observed in the system.

Request your inputs and thoughts on how to correct the scenario.

Hi,

Not sure where the problem could be, but the error codes says that this is SAP said problem also.

I recommend to run the job manually and check for the logs/traces (activate traces, check available space for traces),

Note: while you do the RFC test, this should be simple test like RFCPING.
