Creating variant in MB51

In MB51 there is no variant available for saving.

In the initial screen there is field for layout. Where in sap we create layout for MB51

Hello Megha,

You can set Layout as below:

Use t.code: MB51 -- Execute ---- Go to menubar, select "Settings" --- Layout --- Current ----- Select element in Header and Position --- Select "Copy" 

Again go to menubar select "Settings" --- Layout --- Save( Give Layout name "ZMM" and Description of Layout )

Hence you can save the variant

The question isn't very clear.  Are you asking two different questions?

What do you mean by your statement "there is no variant available for saving"?  Are you referring to a transaction variant, whereby you pre-set the selection criteria such as plant and movement type?  Or do you mean a layout variant that is selected on the initial MB51 screen at the bottom?

If there are no transaction variants saved for MB51 yet, then you will not see the variant icon.  Enter the desired selection criteria for the variant, click save and then follow the typical steps to name it and save the variant.  Upon save you will now see the icon to select the variant and execute MB51.

If you are referring to a layout variant, then you first must execute the transaction and in the results you can modify the layout and save it, either as user-specific or available to all users.  The next time you call the transaction the layout variant will be visible using the search help for that field.  I am not in front of SAP right now but I would assume that MB51 has the standard layout modification capabilities as most other reports like it.
