Hello Colleagues,
I tried to install the SAP Max Database Studio 7.9.08 in a 64 bit version on a Windows 7 64bit (Intel) PC.
The newest version as SAP package "MAXDBSTDDSK7908_4-20006288.SAR" downloaded at Service Market Place.
After unzip with SAPCAR I executed the Setup "SDBSETUP.exe" with the default values.
Standard path "C:\sapdb\...
I tried es with different path like "C:\Program Files\sapdb\ ... with the same error situation
At SAPMax - XML Log Viewer I found serveral error's
ERR: Invalid value for type "path"
...
ERR: install registry not found
ERR: Cannot open install registry
...
ERR: Service check failed
ERR: Cannot open "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers\etc\services" to write: No such file or directory
...
After check with "SAP Note 1097311 - SAP MaxDB Database Studio installation" I asume the issue is related to the Registry-Key path.
This ist the SAP requirement:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Windows \
SystemDirectory
Wert: "%SystemRoot%\system32" (type REG_EXPAND_SZ)
I have following values on the client PC:
SystemDirectory REG_SZ C:\Windows\SysWOW64
I don't think I can change the Windows 7 standard value/path here to the SAP value?!
Does anyone know the problem and how I am able to solve it?
Many thanks advance!
Regards,
Jochen
Hi Jochen,
Did you run the SDBSETUP as an administrator ?
If possible attach the summary screen of the Installation Manager - Just before you hit "INSTALL"
Let me know the complete name of the package you are using to install the DB studio.
Please update the post with the output of the following commands:
dbmcli inst_enum
/sapdb/programs/bin/xinstinfo
/sapdb/programs/bin/sdbregview -l
Let me know

Yashwanth

Hello,
I'm facing the same problem.
I've already changed the RegKey as described in SAP Note 1097311. I renamed the old SystemDirectory with the old value and created a new SystemDirectory with value="%SystemRoot%\system32" (type REG_EXPAND_SZ).
But nothing happens. I'm still getting the same error message as before.
Any suggestions what else can I do? Delete the old SystemDirectory?
Thx in advance & best regards,
Ondry

Hello Jochen,
i had the same Problem. Nice, that you post the Solution.
After i change the Registry Entry, the Database Studio 7.9.08.31 (64bit) Installation completed successfully on a Windows 8 64bit PC and i change the Registry Entry back to default.
It works fine.
Thanks a lot !

Michael

Hello Olli/Yashwanth,
many thanks to both of you!
Yes, the solution is to change the path to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\" as notice at SAP Note.
After RegKey change installation of NWDS works fine without any errors.
I was uncertain about what is the consequences of the Key change to the different applications, etc.
Does Windows works as before?
The path "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers\" was the original standard path from a new standard installation!
So I had concerns about a simple RegKey change.
Many thanks again!
Regads,
Jochen
