Crystal Reports 2011 crashes when I add a mySQL table.

I recently acquired Crystal Reports 2011 to create reports based on a locally installed mySQL database. Here are some related specs:

Crystal Reports 2011 Version 14.0.2.364RTM

mySQL Version 5.5.27

Connector/ODBC 5.1.11

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional SP1

Crystal Reports crashes when I attempt to add a mySQL table to a report. The message I get is:

"Crystal Reports has stopped working. A problem caused the program to sop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Here is the application event log entry that the crash produces:

The crash may occur when I try to add the first table or sometimes when I try to add the third table. I have looked through numerous postings and have tried several fixes including:

1) uninstalling, deleting all files, redownloading and reinstalling Crystal Reports 2011.

2) uninstalling, deleting all files and redownloading Connector/ODBC 5.1.11

3) uninstalling Connector/ODBC 5.1.11 and then downloading installing earlier version of Connector/ODBC  (version 3.51.30)

4) downloading and executing sqlcon32 from the SAP site; it shows that I am able to connect to the mySQL database and perform all functions

5) creating a new database in mySQL and attempting to create a report from it

I have 10 years experience designing Crystal Reports with MS SQL Server and never had this sort of problem. I'm now in a second career in the nonprofit sector and have been using mySQL and love it. But I sorely miss the ability to create Crystal Reports. Can anyone offer any advice or give me some direction? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Robert,

Try connecting to mySQL using DataDirect ODBC drivers for MySQL.

Hope this helps!
