Hi guys,
I am interested in the SAP EHS but I don't have any experience in SAP. And I noticed that some people start SAP with TERP10 https://training.sap.com/dk/en/course/terp10-sap-erp-integration-of-business-processes-classroom-095...
and am wondering if I would also need to start with the course or if I could just go directly to any of the EHS modules.
1. will that course give me broader opportunities to get entry level job within companies that use SAP before I start in the EHS modules?
2. Will it make it easier for me to understand the EHS modules if I first take TERP 10 ?
Thanks.

Dear George
the course you have mentioned is helpful (in my opionion). Courses regarding eh&S can be found by using this link:
https://training.sap.com/dk/en/search?query=EHS
To start with SAP you need to understand:
a.) the SAP basics (ABAP; SAP GUI, Internal SAP architecture, etc.) etc.
b.) the SAP structure (modules)
c.) the integration points of the modules (SAP EH&S is integrated e.g. in SAP SD, SAP MM, SAP PM etc. etc.)
TERP 10 seems to be helpful as a starting poitn so that if you start working on SAP EHS you have some SAP basics which you can use.
You need to understand that in most case sthe training courses will provide only an overview; to leanr SAP EH&S (or any other module) you need to work on projects and especially in SAP EHS you should have a good background regarding legal aspects; please try an inquire with term "Sustainability" on SAP side; any solution found is related to some extent to EHS topics
Hope this helps.

Hi George,
There are several courses that gives and understanding of the entire SAP landscape. As a fresher you can go through "SAP01 SAP Overview" course. It gives a basic understanding of all the functionalites in SAP.
Comming to TERP10 there are various levels of TERP10, C_TERP10_60, C_TERP10_65 they are designed to have a detailed overview of the system. Intially going for these course will not be helpful, these are helpful for those who have experince in SAP and would like to move to the managerial role.
Start with the basics SAP Overview courses.

All the best.

Thanks so much for the insight.
But, my concern is that in my locality, the SAP accredited agent offers TERP10 to beginners. The agent is not conducting the certification or the training. They get people registered and link them directly to SAP local office and beginners start with the TERP10. And one of the advantages of registering through the agent is that, people could pay in installment (twice or more) to them whereas that is not possible if one want to go directly to the SAP local office.
So, am wondering why they usually start with TERP10 and not with the SAP01 as you suggested. Could it be because the agent has an agreement on only the TERP10 with the SAP local office? OR is it because both the agent and the SAP office thinks that TERP10 is the course to begin with?
But, I don't know if the TERP10 also includes the SAP01. So, I would need independent opinion on this issue in order to help me decide the best route for me ( a beginner).
Looking forward to hearing from you guys.
Thanks All in anticipation.

Hi,
SAP01 is a subset is TERP10. So if you get an oppourtunity to attend. Try to get some basic understanding of SAP and business process, which will help you.
Appearing for TERP10_60 will be of entry level concepts and TERP10_65 will be bit in detail.
You can go for TERP10 offered by your trainer.

Dear George Gordy,
I am a SAP Certified Techno Functional Consultant & Trainer.
I have delivered this TERP10 trainings many times to SAP Education in different countries.
I will definitely recommend TERP10 for people who want to make a start in SAP. Its a wonderful course designed by SAP where you get the opportunity to learn/understand/implement the businesses processes of SAP. Prior to this there used to be SAP01 (Still available), but SAP01 can't make you feel the entire process confidently as its a very limited days course compared to TERP10 which is for 10days.
For digesting TERP10, you need to have a basic or minimum knowledge how a manufacturing industry works so as to easily relate the same with SAP processes.
So the cream of the story is TERP10 is really recommended for you.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. Since you said that it would be a good place to start before I go to the EHS modules, I would go and enroll for TERP10.
In order for me to begin to visualize the future- are there some job opportunities after TERP10?
and what course comes to your mind that I can do after the TERP10?
Thanks.

Dear George Gordy,
There are surely plenty of job opportunities once you successfully complete TERP10 training and get certified.
As TERP10 builds the foundation for the SAP core business process understandings, you can choose specific business process academy course for becoming the respective module consultant, it completely depends on you domain experience and knowledge what module to choose.
For example, if you are having good experience or knowledge on sales you can choose SAP SD and become SD consultant, later in you career run you can go for SAP CRM.
This is how you can enter and become master in SAP and grow up you career path.
Good Luck!

Hi Yugesh,
I have started the course TERP10 and I need your advice concerning the followings :
1. Should I read the participant handbook (853 pages) that I got on the first day of apearance according to how the content is listed in the table of content? OR according to a university in Germany where my friend attended the course, they were told to start from unit 5 : "Purchase to Pay Business Process" followed by "Material Planning" and "Data Management" etc... What would you advice ?
2. I followed the practice exercises on WTS along with the solutions in the handbook but, it's like am just following the steps that have already been solved and am wondering if I would need to memorise some of these steps so that when I want to apply for job or when I get a job, I would need to be able to know all these steps by heart?
3. As a trainer, please give me a detailed advice on what I need to concentrate on, know, memorize at this stage and what I need to prepare for during interview and that would help me in a long term and for me to get ROI on this course.
Many thanks

Hi George,
You have made a good decision. TERP will help understand the basic aspects of ERP solution. If you have a basic understanding of the businness world, you will be able to find this course relatively easy. Like any SAP courses, the course material would have lots of information on transactions/ steps, etc. You may not be required to memorise it. The intention is to explain the business process associated with each activity and help you think about things in a logical sequence. You may find it a bit difficult to get the hang of things at first, but as you spend more time you will get the pattern. Make sure you discuss the questions (if you come across any) to any forum or to some SAP mentor. This will help you understand things in a better light. Wish you all the best. Regards, Judith

Not sure if TERP 10 is good just to understand the end to end of SAP. That will come with experience. I know people looking for jobs with TERP 10 as a selling point, that will be a challenge when you're competing with others with experience and more relevant certification.
