Hi Experts ,
We need to upgrade FINBASIS 6.00 to 6.04 ( or 7.XX) on ERP 6.0 EHP6/NW 7.0 EHP3. My upgrade will be only FINBASIS part.
Just want to know if it is possible to upgrade with SAINT. I want to avoid MOPZ.
Note 1037878 - Installation FINBASIS 700 on NetWeaver 7.1 has the option to install with SAINT with password , does this applicable for my situation as I have already FINBASIS 6.00 ? Again it is on ERP 6.0 EHP6/NW 7.0 EHP3.
If it is not possible with SAINT , please let me know the steps to follow to configure SMSY to generate MOPZ for FINBASIS. I have read the note 1326576 , looks like it is a must to generate MOPZ, Tried with SOLMAN , does not pick FINBASIS , do not understand SMSY part with 1326576, My Sol Man is 7.1 SP3
Any info on this will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Al Mamun
Hello Al Mamun,
You must use SAINT with an XML for this update.
Thus please follow the below mentioned directions carefully for XML generation:
1. Goto transaction SMSY. Change product version of target system
to "ERP 6.0" temporarily in SMSY with the following steps.
- As the product version cannot be changed while system is assigned
to a logical component of the old product version, please use the
"where used list" to identify and remove the system from the old
logical components.
- In SMSY, select the target system SID.
- In tab "Header Data" press button "Change Product Versions"
- Add the Product "SAP ERP", Product Version "SAP ERP 6.0".
- Set Flag "Copy" to "SAP ERP 6.0"
- Reject copying system components from ERP in popup.
2. Reassign system to logical component
- Right-click on SID in SMSY
- Select "Assignment to Logical Components"
- Assign logical component for main instance "ECC Server"
- Register the logical component in the solution.
3. Run MOPZ for target system
- Create Maintenance Transaction for product "ERP 6.0"
- Select "Enhancement Package Installation"
- Choose product version "EHP4 for ERP 6.0/NW 7.01"
- Select the correct technical usage according to note 1566412
- Generate XML file
4. Download stack XML file and software packages to target system then
use the XML file as input for SAINT.
Let me know if this informaiton helps!

Sandhya

Hello Sandhya,
I have the same issue for my FINBASIS release of 600 This again for an EHP6 ERP 6.0 system NW 7.3. I cannot seem to get the stack to calculate within MOPZ. I am trying to simply upgrade FINBASIS to release 736. I have maintained the system in SMSY as you had previously stated. My issue is that once I get to the stack calculation step .. 2.7 (confirm selection )I am getting an error log stating to apply support packs to my ST-PI 2008_1_700 sp 4 component. The MOPZ is requesting that I apply support packs till I reach SP 7. I also wanted to confirm file downloaded for upgrade of FINBASIS only. I have been using using K-736GHINFINBASIS.SAR (FINBASIS 736 Exchange Upgrade)
I am pretty sure I have downloaded the correct file for this upgrade. Basically I am stuck and need to calculate an XML stack for a FINBASIS upgrade from Release 600 to 736.
ps. You were very clear how to maintain system in SMSY .. thanks.

Nabil

Dear Abu,
Were you able to upgrade just the FINBASIS component from 600 to 736 ? Please give me steps if Yes.
I am planning to upgrade from FINBASIS 600 SP22 to FINBASIS 736 SP06
Thanks
Jitendra

Hi Jitendra,
your SAP release has to be on EHP6 level. Then you are able to upgrade just Finbasis and its dependend components. Otherwise you have to perform an upgrade to EHP6.
Please check note #1326576 in that case.
If your SAP release is already EHP6, but just Finbasis component is 600 level then you have to configure a valid stackfile according to above note and use this one while patching your system.
Cheers,
Andreas
I think they are refering to

So it is a different scenario than what you are thinking.
