BI 4.0 Dashboard designer installation issue.

Hello All,

We are not able to install dashboard designer SP4. While installing the dashboard designer we were getting an error message " BI 4.0 - Dashboard Design - Temporary License Key is not working. Error: "The keycode you entered is not valid. Please try again. INS00140". We found a SAP KB 1578658. However In our current environment we cannot easily follow the instructions as per the SAP knowledgebase article 1578658 since with the our new corporate wide rollout of McAfee, the directory and service is locked down and even if the dll is renamed as administrator in safe mode, the
dll is instantly recreated. We need to know if there is an alternative fix and if this will be addressed in future service packs as ultimately we will need to roll
out Business Objects 4.0. As per the SAP KB this issue should fixed in BI 4.0 SP1. However we are facing this issue in BI 4.0 SP4.

Hi Santosh,

In order to install Dashboards 4.0 SP04, it is recommended that you start the installation by running the setup as Administrator.

When you enter license key that in turn creates a registry entry for Dashboards. If you do not have administrative right, then you might not be able to add the license key successfully.

Few of the Antivirus applications do look after registry, any change made to registry is prevented.

So these are few possibilities  which might not let you enter license key and give you such error message.

My suggestion to you would be - Have a word with IT dept which looks after installation and administration. You need to start the installation with administrative rights and have your McAfee disabled until the installation completes with license key provided.
