Label stock in GLM

Hello Experts,

     I found in forums, we can add label data (Label description...) for a material via the following SPRO path:

       SAP Customizing Implementation Guide --> Environment, Health and Safety

                   --> Product Safety-->lobal Label Management-->Label Stocks--> Edit

     But, our system (SAP ECC 6.0) no such option in SPRO. What I do? Please advise me.

Hi,

First I would like to say, the label description not maintained in Label stock.

Label description can be maintained in wwi template. T.Code - CG42 > Header > Description.

Secondly, The Label stock editing is not part of SPRO, it is purely master data.

you can create the same in the transaction code - CBGL_LS02.

In Label stock, you can maintain the description related to Label stock. not a label description.

Thanks for your reply.

I had created Report template and link the same with Generation variant.

I found in forums, we have to link this Generation variant with label.

Do you know how do we make this?

HI,

Created Generation variant and linked to Report template is correct.

Now you have to create the Label stock in CBGL_LS02

the same need to be linked to Generation variant.

T. code CG2B (edit Generation variant) > Application Objects > Label stock > Object key

In Object key, you have to link up your "Label stock", which was created above.

Hi,

you have to link a label template (CG42) to a generation variant (CG2B). InCG2B is a button "Application Objects". The object is "labelstock" and you have to assign the label stock here. (CBGL_LS02).

You are able to maintain a description for all 3 objects within the transactions.

Yes I did as per your advice. Then I tried to save the after giving entry in Labelling specification

under 'Label data tab' the message 'No changes made' come. What do I do?

HI,

I am not sure, what exactly your question here.

maintain the label data for that material in label data view tab (mm01/MMo2).

try to execute the label in CBGL_MP01 transaction.

still you have any doubts, let me know in detailed.

Yes, i maintain the label data via MM02 and hit save button. But the entered text not getting saved. When i see the same material that was empty.

HI,

Under Labelling Specification > Configuration > Pick the Pack unit of measure by drop down.

I got the problem.

check in Additional data ( MM02), > Units of measure tab.

Maintain the same unit of measure, which you would like to add in label data view.

after that, in Label data tab > select the pack unit of measure > Activate (Button available below)

After activation, you will find the other tab next to Configuraiton.

Here, you can fill up the label category and Gen. variant/ Label size and also labels (No.s).

Save it.

it will take.

HI,

Now I fill the ‘Units of Measure’ tab Bottle (BT) as a uni and its coming automatically in ‘Label data’ tab.

In 'Label data' tab I was choose Label category as ‘LB_CUST’ and tried to choose Generation variant as ‘ZVARIANT’(created in Tcode CG2B). I got the following message.

Hi,

Can you check in the generation variant ' ZVARIANT' , the field "Report category" - .......

It must be the same like "LB_CUST".

then only you can can able to fill that particular Genration variant here.

Now i assign the report category for generation variant as your advice. But when i try to SAVE the following message comes 'No changes made'.

What do i do? to save the changes for particular material. (Kamal, Is there any custom code needed?)

HI,

check the config.

SPRO > Environment, Health and Safety > Product Safety > Global Label Management > Specify Packaging Units.

You selected the "Pack. unit of measure" as DR -Drum, as per your previous screen.

ensure that the same DR-Drum, maintained in the config. mentioned above, and also in "Additional data" > "Unit of measure".

Maintained across, then it should work.

In Label Data tab (material master), you have to enter

1. Label category

2. Label size/Generation Variant

3. Labels

If the label have specific validity areas, can maintain the same by pressing the " Validity Areas".

As mentioned above, Label size/ Gen. variant any of one can be maintained. if you have maintained the label stock, and linked to the generation variant.....you can maintain the label size mentioned in label stock. so that it picks automatically the correct Gen. variant.

No custom needed. it's all standard functionality.

Hi Kamal,

If I made any changes in Tcode MM02 that will be save,

But for 'Label data' tab no changes will be saved.

Now i maintain,

Label category of Label stock (Tcode: CBGL_LS02) as LB_SHIP,

Report category of Generation variant (Tcode: CG2B) as LB_SHIP,

In MM02,

Units of measure in 'Additional data' tab as DR (Drum) and the Label data is as follows:

Even now, i couldn't save. the following message comes.

Please guide me, anything i missed or done wrong.

Hi,

CHeck user access/authorization. Check with su53, after maintaining DR (drum) configuration in material master.

Probably it could be program error.

check the SAP Note - 1256616, may fix your problems.

Hi Kamal,

I made a correction as in that note and now the table TADIR has both entries.

This time i made changes in 'General Data' section alone. But i couldn't save.

('Brand name' & 'Product Name' of a materail)

I can under stand, that you are getting improvement after the corrections made.

still needs to be investigate further, where exactly the issue is.

If you are using EH&S 3.1, then you can check the note - 839971

Hope you will get out of this issue with solution.
