Dear Suresh.

There are several methods for outputting texts, data, or graphics in report templates According to the method you require, use one of the following procedures.

see the difference between this three symbol.

Symbol type

Name

Use

01

Specification

Placeholder for data from the EH&S specification management

02

Parameter

Placeholder for data outside EH&S specification management (e.g. from IHS tables such as work area data, from other SAP components, e.g. MM, SD)

03

Descriptor

Placeholder for data from the EH&S phrase management

Dear Suresh,

That is simple.

Steps:

First create a phrase in CG12. In the description of item under Graphics column, enter the name of the graphic symbol, u want to include with extension. Say if the graphic name is G_flame, enter it as G_flame.bmp. (provided, u have this graphic in folder c:\wwi\graphics )

Assign it to the corresponding phrase set where u like to use.

for eg:

u want the graphic to be displayed in value assignment- chronic exposure of Section 3. Possible hazards, enter the phrase set sap_ehs_1011_001_chronic.

In the Template,

Create a master repeating group and a discrete repeating group

Include the symbol Chronic exposure, expand it as a graphic and nor phrase.

close the repeating group.

Test it now. U will get the symbol as graphic.

Ideally the syntax will look like this.

<11BRG003(M,SAP_EHS_1011_001;*)>

<11BRG004(D;*)>

<01G1011001C1(G)[SZ:A;D:Chronic exposure]>

<11ERG004>

<11ERG003>

U can limit the size of the graphic as per ur requirements.

Hi Suresh,

symbols are the place holders in report template. for ex - if you are dealing with the report which have different languages, this can be possible by using the same symbol and the driving factor would be generation variant and customer master language (incase of cover sheet templates).

3 different symbols -

specification symbols - deals with the data, related to specification work bench. more blindly you can say the data would be specific to SAP EH&S module.

Parameter symbols - the data from other sap components like sales and distribution, Material management, etc.,

Descriptor symbols - Not relevant to any module, the phrases can be maintained in phrase management and can call them, whereever necessary

for ex - you would like to maintain the below message in all your reports as footer. (there is no place holders for this kind of general data in SAP database)

"The information contained in this message, confidential and is intended only for the use of the individual and/or entity identified in the address of this message. If you are not an intended recipient, please notify the sender and delete and destroy this message."

find the link for more detailed -

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/a7/2874ff0a6c11d28a220000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

for your 2nd question about the company details in report template -

this can be deal in 3 ways,

as mentioned above with descriptor symbols, which have the phone no.s and addresses maintained as phrases.

or from the entirprise structure, where we have maintained the company details like phone no. address, etc.

or you can add the directly to the report templates (as MS word application), without using any symbols. if business not diversified with different company codes.

GLM - Global Label management, deals with label creation and printing for shop floor purpose, material moment purpose, transportaion purpose. the concept is to built a label - which have the details about the product. especially more beneficial by dealing with hazardous and safety related symbols and multiple language options.

This solution have more success because, integrated and live data base to dealt with.

you can find coupld of threads related to GLM -

Dear Suresh

only very small add on to the very good explanation of Kamal:

On the top you will use in WWI something like:

1.) Repeating group

2.) Blank compession

3.) Conditional output

4.) Conditioned Text

Regarding GLM:

http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_06/helpdata/en/13/388e3bae1d9e7ae10000000a114084/content.htm?framese...

Chapter: Global Label Management

will give you a good insight how to use it. Labels are generally different in use and how they are printed and at which point of time in comparison to e.g. Safety Data Sheet.

  • Symbol Type “Parameter”

Symbols of symbol type Parameter reference data that does not belong to the SAP components specification management, phrase management, and Recipe Management.

  • Symbol Type “Specification”

You use symbols of symbol type Specification to insert the following data from the SAP specification management component:

·        Characteristic value

·        Graphic, phrase, or code of a phrase-related characteristic

Note

For a characteristic you can output the user-defined texts of a user-defined text type you specify using the environment parameter PHRASE_SEE_FREETEXT. For more information, see the IMG activity Specify Environment Parameters.

·        Value of a table field for the SAP component Recipe Management

Note

Symbols for the SAP component Recipe Management belong to the symbol type Specification for technical reasons.

  • Symbol Type “Descriptor”

Symbols of symbol type Descriptor refer to phrase texts and phrase-related fields (phrase codes, graphics, and so on) of the SAP phrase management component. You use this symbol type to insert language-independent, standardized text modules into your document template.
