Hi All,
While surfing some SAP groups, I came across the full form of BASIS. I was wondering whether it is authentic or just someone throwing a prank.
As per them BASIS stands for : Business Application Software Integration System
Seems to good but...
Please validate.

Basis is a business application software integrated solution. Simply, Basis is the administration of the SAP system.
It's a piece of middleware which links the application with the database and the operating system. Basis is most commonly associated with the GUI interface to the SAP, and the Basis administrator is an SAP, professional who is responsible for configuring the SAP environment, including the GUI screens and SAP application servers.

Hello,
up to Release 6.10 there was the term BC (Basis Component) which was then replaced with the Name NetWeaver.
Basis is a word used in the german language and means in english:
base
foundation
bottomlayer
So the Basis is the base where all our business apllications are running on.
Hope this was helpful information for you,
Juergen
