Breakdown Maintenance

Hi ,

I m new in PM  . I have some query regarding Breakdown Maintenance

1.Is breakdown maintenance and corrective maintenance same?

2.Is Cycle of breakdown is same as others maintenance?

thanks a lot  to all of U to help me to clarify my confusion .

One more thing  I need to confirm......, when I create Notification in IW21 then notification type should be BD(for break down) and in my scenario F4 help of notification type doesn't give BD type but gives  as follwing list

M2	Malfunction report
M3	Activity report

What I  should use for notification type for breakdown maintenance ?

You can use either M2 as suggested by Jogeswara or you can use M1 as well but you need to put "Breakdown" Indicator check box so that system can understand it as the breakdown.

See this all depends on client processes and reporting requirements.

Hi Ankita,

To under stood regarding definitions of Breakdown or corrective work try to explore the documentation at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/fe/67f9609d6f11d189b60000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

Cycle of Breakdown or other type of maintenance depends on business process of client, some might exclude the planning  of breakdown order type, some might want to create automatic notifications etc. Yes processing is same like Maintenance request to order to completion.

Hope this will help. As you are a beginner just try to read SAP documentation to start.

What do you mean by cycle of breakdown?

In case you meant the process of breakdown,

All maintenance processes are done through a Notification and/or a maintenance order.

In all processes the dates and times are important in notifications/orders.

Breakdown maintenance:

In the notification (to capture the history)

-Catalog-codes are important.

-Measuring documents wherever applicable.

For all maintenance processes the order is the cost collector

-the man hours spent

-the material cost.

Hi,

in Plant maintenance if any unexpected malfunction occurs for any equipment which requires immediate response from the Maintenance team

1. In breakdown maintenance the equipment is not operating

2. In Breakdown Maintenance the production is effected

In Corrective maintenance the equipment is operating but it is wrongly operating

1. Equipment is wrongly working

2. Productivity of equipment is reduced

3.  you will correct damage and make equipment to work to its full extend
