PO release strategy in ME23N did not display correctly

Hey PO gurus,

     We added a new release code in the PO release strategy.

     Everything works fine for the newly created PO.

     For the old POs which are still in the workflow, the PO release strategy did not display correctly and it display one level off.

     For example, originally we had release code 20, 30 and 40. PO 123 was in the PO workflow waiting to be approved for release code 30.

     Now we added a new release code 10 before release code 20. Now the PO 123 show it was waiting to be approved for release code 20 even all the approvers were for the release code 30.

Hi Li,

For the release code 30, the workflow is already triggered and waiting for approval at corresponding approver.

Now if you add one more release code, workflow would not able to recognize the new release code. the workflow just showing the screen of ME23N. Also in the workflow level the release code will be 30 not 20.

For upcoming new workflow's you will not be face any issue's with release code.

But for the old instances, you have to you have to do manual release from the transaction.

Even though if you release the PO's manually for release code 20, the old workflow's might get error status. Its fully dependent on the workflow design.

So the best thing to do is, Just revert back the new release code configuration and approve all the pending workflow's then add the new release code.

In the end, we went into ME28 and manually release all PO’s so that they show up in the correct
release level.

Hi Yu,

Once you inserted in Release code it will not insert into existing ongoing PO.

It valid for upcoming new PO.If existing PO u need release strategy means just re-trigger the release strategy by changing significantly inside PO.
