/SAPAPO/OM_LC_DOWNLOAD_UPLOAD - upload into existing LC

Former Member

Hello,

we already test-migrated a SCM 7.0 including Livecache data with changing the platform from HPUX/Oracle to Windows/MSSQL.

LC data have been saved using report /SAPAPO/OM_LC_DOWNLOAD_UPLOAD in the source system then LC has been installed on the target system and LC data then uploaded in the target system using /SAPAPO/OM_LC_DOWNLOAD_UPLOAD again.

Now we want to re-run the migration for cutover test and my question is whether it's possible to skip the new installation of the LC

and just upload the data after migration of SCM database into existing LC starting in section C of /SAPAPO/OM_LC_DOWNLOAD_UPLOAD at this point. Does LC initialization in step C2 do all the necessary cleanup steps in order to upload new data into existing LC again ?

Looking forward to your answers.

Thanks,

  Juergen

Hi Juergen,

I'm not sure what do you mean by 'skip the new installation of LC'. Does this mean that your livecache

operating system/platform will reamain unchanged ?

In this case, in this case, indeed there is no need to install LC again(from the programs/files perspective) but you will need to initialize(most likelly there is a step in section C. of the report to do it) the livecache to make it 'empty' in order to do the data upload from SCM system.

Now if indeed livecache DB will be migrated to another operating system/platform, the steps from SAP note:

632357 -  Backing up liveCache data for SCM 4.0 or higher

are the ones to follow

Hi Thiago,

with "new installation of LC" I mean the software installation of Livecache using SWPM during the migration re-run. Livecache has been installed with SWPM on the target system already during the first test migration.

And yes - we change the OS platform.

Question is if it's sufficient to start with section C on the target system in case the Livecache exists there already. Or if we must delete the existing LC installation and re-install with SWPM before loading again with /SAPAPO/OM_LC_DOWNLOAD_UPLOAD.

Hello Juergen,

I would say yes, it's ok to carry on just section C. as long as you ensure to initialize livecache.

Before you initialize the liveCache, ensure that the /SAPAPO/DELETE_LC_ANCHORS report has NOT been entered as post processing report for liveCache initialization(see connection LCA,

LEA and LDA in DB59 -> Integration data). Otherwise,  data may be lost in the SCM system as this report deletes the ANCHOR data in SCM side. After you confirm that data is properly transfered to livecache and from scm side is everything ok, you can then fill the report back in post processing sections of livecache connections.

Hi,

Can anybody share there expeirence about

1. How big was the Livecache database size

2. How much time it took for upload in SCM Master table

3. How much time it took for download the data back to livecache from SCM Master table after migration.

4. Is there any option to set multiple session for upload or download.

Hello Anil Bhandary,

you already created the own thread to address the questions on the steps from SAP note 632357.

You have to check what Master data you have on the system. The master data should be consistent. Upload internally run in parallel, you need to check the avalability of the OS resources, memory & CPU on the target liveCache server, and optimize the liveCache parameters. Check the appl. server WPs configuration as well. And update the statistics in Oracle DB before to run the upload.

Hello Balaram,

please review the SAP note:

632357 - Backing up liveCache data for SCM 4.0 or higher

, pay attention to the symptom section before to use /SAPAPO/OM_LC_DOWNLOAD_UPLOAD report.

Also make sure that the RFC connections for each client are maintained in accordance with Note 305634.

And solution section of this note explained why it's recommended to login as ddic to run this report.
