Query browser prompt selection odd functioning

Former Member

Hi All,

I have a query browser connectivity with a prompt, i have connected this prompt to an excel sheet. The selector(prompt i/p), has two formats one is a number say some 38491, and the other in the name of a state. Now when i run the query i get the following error,

Request processing failed. (XLS 000009)

Request processing failed. (XLS 000009) [] <com.businessobjects.semanticlayer.qt.QTException: Query script generation failed. See your BusinessObjects administrator. {0} (WIS 00013)>

this occurs only when I pass the number but when i pass the Text format (name of state) it works fine and the error does not pop out, can anyone point out what problem this is. The number selection (38491) passes as a text only, i even tried passing it alone and still does not work. I appreciate any helps or tips,

Thanks,

Fazith

Hello,

Which version are you running?

If I remember correctly this happened in SP5 and is fixed now.

Hi Mohammad,

i think that you are trying to pass the Key value to BW query.

if it's the case so i can confirm that it's a bug, ADAPT01693215.

for more infotmation please check the SAP KBA

1877138 - Error XLS 000009 observed when trying to pass back "Key
Values" to BW query from Dashboard...

Hi

The dimension on which the prompt is set - is that defined as string or number in the universe?

Are the number and state prompts on the same query or separate query?

Thanks

Hi Runali,

1. It's defined as a string,

2. yes in the same query

Thanks,

Hi Fazith

Try formatting the prompt value as text within excel before passing to the query and see if it makes any difference. You can use =TEXT() function.

Thanks
