Thank you all for your support,

For the connectivity between fresh/New Installation Portal & ECC

1) Initialize/create SLD

2) Create Technical system in the sld (create backend ECC system in SLD)

3) SSO

           a) Perform the pre-requsire, set below parameters in As ABAP system in instance profile-                              login/create_sso2_ticket=2

                              login/accept_sso2_ticket=1

                              login/password_change_for_SSO=0 Optional)

                              icm/host_name_full= <FQDN>

SAPFQDN=<domain name> (Set this parameter in Default Profile)

set below parameters in As Java in default profile-

      SAPFQDN=<domain name>

      Restart ECC system

             b) Here with SAP NetWeaver 7.3 its amazing & simple to configure SSO

go to NWA --> Configuration --> Scenarios

                                Configuration wizard

                                Select all configuration objects

Select “SAP SSO Logon ticket scenario as Abap”to Java

Provide the required details, host name, communication user, credentials etc…

                                Finish

***** NO need for certificate upload & download..

Check RFC destination is created or not. It might have got created. Ping the destination for testing

4) Create System Object in system Admin --> System Landscape

                               Establish Trust, and Test connection.

5) For testing, run a transaction, in System admin à support à application Integrat… à  test & config

Hi Hussain,

Please find below the steps to setup SSO integration between ECC and EP 6.0

  1. Create RFC Destinations in J2EE Engines in EP 6.0
  2. Create TCP/IP connection RFC Destinations for SAP EP 6.0 in SAP ECC
  3. Maintain Portal Server Settings for SAP EP 6.0 in SAP ECC
  4. Maintain Single Sign-On in SAP ECC
  5. Export the ECC Certificate from SAP ECC
  6. Import the ECC Certificate into SAP EP 6.0
  7. Create ECC Systems in SAP EP 6.0
  8. Configure User Management in SAP EP 6.0
  9. Export the Portal Certificate from SAP EP 6.0
  10. Import the Portal Certificate into SAP ECC .

If you face any issues please revert.

Thanks,

Himanshu

Dear Hussain,

Single sign-on (SSO) is a method of access control that enables a user to log in once and gain access to the resources of multiple software systems without being prompted to log in again (enter Id and password).

How to use it in SAP Net Weaver?

There are several user authentication and Single Sign-On (SSO) mechanisms available with SAP Net Weaver. The Enterprise Portal SSO mechanism is available in two variants depending on security requirements and the supported external applications:

1.      SSO with ID and password

2.      SSO with SAP logon tickets

Both variants eliminate the need for repeated logons to individual applications after the initial authentication at the enterprise portal. SSO with user ID and password forwards the user's logon data (user ID and password) to the systems that a user wants to call, Whereas SSO with SAP logon tickets is based on a secure ticketing mechanism.

I think SSO with SAP logon tickets is most commonly used.

Hi,

Please can you proved more details why do you need to connect and what are the areas which you have in mind to get the data and related to which functionality.

Like you want to connect ume or you have ESS/MSS.

Connection to the backend depends on what functionality you want to integrate between the portal and backend.

Thanks

Hi,

Check this

The new packages supported for NW 7.3 are:
a) ESS 633
b) PCUI_GP 633
c) MSS 630

BP for Ess - 1.41
BP for MSS - 1.41

If you want to use webdynpro abap based applications, Applications are available in backened EHP5 system itself, so you only need to deploy business package.

BPERPESSWDA 1.50
BP for MSS - 1.51
MSS Addon 1.0

if you are only to use WD ABAP services then for MSS you need to install MSS Add on http://help.sap.com/erp_mss_addon10/helpdata/en/ff/259dc704ff461a828c964f727ddeab/frameset.htm

instead of BP_ERP5MSS 1.51 and for ehp6 use business function

Business Functions:

  • HCM_ESS_CI_1
  • HCM_ESS_WDA_1
  • HCM_LOC_CI_21
  • HCM_MSS_WDA_1
  • HCM_OSA_CI_1
  • HCM_MSS_WDA_2.

Relevant notes and  blog:

ESS & MSS Add-On in EHP5: An implementation to entice non SAP savvy users

Notes:

Note 1588625 - Release information for Manager Self-Services Add-On 1.0

Note 1576982 - Installation of Add-On EA-HR_MSS 1.0

Note 1565256 - Adjustments to Manager Self-Services Add-On 1.0 For Ehp6

Note 1615463 - SAP Business Suite 7i 2010 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 hub systems

Note 1566412 - Enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0: Required SWC

SAP Note No. 1588625 gives some info for ABAP BP.

Now you need to configure the sso between the portal and the backend.

and you need to create system in the system landscape of the portal to call the backend.

You also need to think where are you planning to install your ume so that ess and mss role need to be assigned to user.  Depending on that you need to configure UME.

So it mix of Function and the Basis consultant.

Thanks
