Users are able to create BIAR files from BI 4.0 system using the Upgrade Management Tool. Why? What for? Isn't that useless?
Why can we create BIAR from UMT, using as source a BI 4 system , but we can't import it later?
Shouldn't this option be forbidden with a message saying: you can't select that System as source since it's a BI 4 system so its BIAR file won't be imported to another BI 4 system.

You can create BIAR files from BI4.0 system in UMT, so that you can import those using UMT into BI4.1 system or BI5.x system or whatever the new name will be.
Basicaly this feature is reserved for future use.

In Normal cases Live to BIAR and BIAR to Live will be used when we take BIAR from 3.1 and export to 4.0
Have you tried with UMT?
please folow the below steps to migrate with UMT.
1797144 - Unable to use Upgrade Management Tool to migrate objects between two BI4.x environments
