Dear Expert,

Naresh K
Hello
If there is a change in the release of the kernel then read this SAP note.
Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11
Also consider the points for Java systems in the note.
Based on my experience kernel update on ABAP and Java can be done in both ways (standard way and using JSPM).

Hi Naresh,
What kernel is the system currently on and what is the target kernel?
1. Please refer to note 1633731 and it has following indications:
note 1633731 - Usage of the 7.20 Downward-Compatible Kernel
"
Solution
Please note automated Kernel installation using JSPM or SUM on Java and
Dual-Stack Systems is not supported.
"
2. So for a dual stack system such as in your case, the update
can not implemented patch via JSPM alone. You need to manually replace
kernel directory and proceed as described within note 1636252 >
via "conventional" method steps.
3. After the manual update, please check the system status and SM51->
Release notes to see if your kernel is on kernel release 7.20.
So please follow note 1636252 to do manual kernel update for dual
stack system.
regards,
Paul
