CrystalReportsRAS failed to start after setting SIA account

Hello,

when I set service account in SIA preferences in CCM, CrystalReports2011RAS failed to start. Service account has all necessary rights

  • Act as part of operating system
  • Logon as a service
  • Full control of SAP BusinessObjects folder and registry.

There is no problem starting CrystalReports2001RAS with system account.

Any idea?

* Windows Server 2008 R2, SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 SP6 patch 5

Hi

SAP Note says

Edit the User Permissions to allow the account running the SIA to authorize starting the RAS.

  1. Open the Central Configuration Manager (CCM).
  2. Stop the SIA, allowing you to edit its' properties.
  3. Uncheck the "System Account" box.
  4. Open the "..." button to the right of the "User" input field.
  5. Select the correct user that you want to Log On As. After selected click "OK".
  6. Enter the password for the account and select "OK".
  7. Start the SIA again in the CCM.

OR

Edit Business Objects registration key for the user running the SIA.

Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.

  1. Click Start > Run. Type "regedit" to open Registration Editor.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Business Objects. On 64 bit environment navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/SAP BusinessObjects.
  3. Right click Business Objects and click Permissions.
  4. Click Add button.
  5. In the 'Enter the object names to select' box type in user name of the user the CMS is running with and click Check Names to validate. Click OK.
  6. Click the added name to highlight it. Click the Allow checkbox for Full Control in the Permission section.
  7. Click Advanced. Click the 'Replace permission entries ... " check box. Click OK > Yes > OK.

Hi,

in order to check if this is a permission issue, i would recommend you add this usre to the local Administrators Group temporary and check again.

Adding permission for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/SAP BusienssObjects has resolved the issue.

Thank you.

I was received the following error in my RAS trace log: [Unable to read information from the Registry]. This solution worked perfectly, thanks! I'm posting this here in case anyone else encounters this error message.

is this a problem with only Crystal Reports 2011 Ras services?

Yes, only this one. All other services are fine.

Hello,

You may need to enable logging for this server in order to gather more information.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
