How to Turn off BIA settings in test system?

HI Friends,

Our quality system is recently refreshed with production environment. We have BIA enabled in Production but we dont have the BIA server in Quality system. Now since the system is copied from Production environment. the system looks for the indexes while running the query in quality system. Since there is no BIA server in quality, the reports runs for a long time and gets timeout after some time.

I want to turn off the BIA server settings in Quality system and is looking out for the setting required for it. Could you please let me know how can we do this??

In RSRV we get an RFC issue which points to the Production BIA server. RSDDBIAMON gives the similar issue. I want to turn off the BIA setting in Quality system.

Regards,

Satyam

We had the same issue where the refresh pulled over another systems BWA settings.  Like others have mentioned, you should disable BWA querying in RSDDBIAMON2 Global Index settings and in RSDDB (if you are on BW 7.3+).

When you attempt to delete the indexes from RSDDB the RFC will not be reachable as the indexes are ghosted copies and the BWA is not connected.

What you are seeing are entries from SAPs tables that have no effect on the test system so unless you hook up a BWA appliance and repair these objects or have basis modify relevant BWA tables to drop these entires, you're going to see these indexes.

Best of luck!

Thanks all for your replies.

The issue was resolved after the entries in the Index table was deleted in the backend with the help of the DB team. Once the entries in the index table was deleted, the queries started behaving normally.

Hi,

do a simple search for OSS notes with "BWA" and "system copy". This should point you to OSS note 1146983 (System copy and BWA server). It describes how to clean up the system after a copy with no BWA attached. If you just clean up "some" DB tables, your system is still in a inconsitent state.

Use OSS note 1146983 - System copy and BIA server  to delete BWA index references. You will still need a dummy BWA RFC connection.

Hi Satyam ,

Their is another option to "Switched Off BIA for query" with help of SAP BW Table RSRREPDIR , where technical field name NOHPA is set to = "X" then BIA is off for that query and if NOHPA field is having  blank value then BIA is on for same query.

U can write Z-ABAP Program to update this field "NOPHA" in this RSRREPDIR table for Query COMPUID & GENUNID.

Hi Satyam,

You can turn off BIA for queries in RSDDBIAMON. Select BI Accelerator -> Index Settings -> Switch On/Off BIA Indexes for Queries -> check the checkbox "switched off for queries" for all info cubes and save.

Hope this helps.
