BPC75NW Transport a New Dimension in existing Application

Hi Experts,

we are planning to extend an existing Application in a transport managed system.

The underlying BPC is a 7.5 NW, and we are aware of limitations concerning transport management.

But, a part from:

a. Exporting data to flat file,

b. Deleting application content

c. Reloading Application with flat file

we are thinking about using this approach:

1. BackUp QA Application Set

2. Transport only the Dimension Definition to QA

3. Fill the Dimension in QA with one member ID (the one we would like to be used to fill existing data)

4. Transport the Application Definition

To do so we are planning to do the necessary changes in transport Tables (UJT_TRANS_CHG).

Did anybody of you experineced such an approach?

Was this approach successfull?

Many thanks in advance for sharing

GFV

Hi Gianfranco,

We have done the same thing on 7.5 but without transport, just on the production system. No experience how it will happen with transport... But because of step 1. why not to check

Hi Vadim,

but you decided to avoid transport system: our purpouse is to preserve system coherence.

The double transport step, according to us, is necessary in order to populate the first base member.

Thanks
