SAP ESS: Migrating from 7.0 to 7.31

Hi All,

We are in the process of upgrading from 7.0 to 7.31.

During upgrade via JSPM, Basis Team has come up with a issue saying components SAP_ESS and SAPPCUI_GP are not being upgraded to recomended level as these has been modified with NWDI.

We do not have any documentation related to any customisation.

Systems are being upgraded to EHP6 and Portal is being upgraded to 7.31. The standard WDA ESS is supposed to be used in upgraded systems.

Questions:

1> How to figure out which customisations are in use from which track?? [No documentation and it seems same DC's are present in multiple tracks]

2> Since ESS is being moved to WDA, is the old java customisations of any use??

Hi Soumya,

I am about to do the same type of exercise as you and so I found your question. I can't promise to answer it for you but I came across a useful blog which I thought may be of use to you:

I don't know for sure how to answer your first question, but it seems that your second question could be answered as follows:

You can still use your 'old' Java WebDynpros in your upgraded 7.31 portal as long as you upgrade the Java XSS components and Business Packages.
