EIM AdaptiveProcessingServer Running with Errors

Hi ,
 
I have installed DS & IS in my system . I have seen in the server status in the Central Configure Manager as EIM Adaptive Processing Server running with Errors. I have checked in the CMC it is showing like
 
 
Data Cleansing Advisor Service
The service did not start
This service has no configuration property.



 


Please help me how to resolve this issue.

Hi,

I'm facing exactly the same error message "EIM AdaptiveProcessingServer Running with Errors" . I have tried all the above suggestions but nothing worked for me.

Anymore advice on this?

Product landscape on windows 2008 server.

SAP Data Services 4.2  SP1 Patch 3 (14.2.1.622)

SAP Information Steward 4.2  SP1 Patch 2 (14.2.1.572)

Information platform services 4.1 SP2 Patch 3  (14.1.2.1216)

Repository Database Oracle 11g.

this error can happen for multiple reason

to isolate the issue do the following

Stop EIM APS

go to <Install Directory>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging

move or delete all the EIM APS logs (search for  *EIM*  move or delete)

go to CMC-> Servers

Select the EIM APS, right click and select "Select Services", in the next page, move the Services that are running with errors from right hand side to left hand side

Create a new EIM APS

and add only the services that are failing to start to this EIM APS

Start both EIM APS

go to <Install Directory>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging

attach the *EIM*.glf of the new EIM APS that has services that fails to start

Thanks for the Reply Manoj.

Following two services are causing the issue:

-Information Steward Application Services

-Cleansing Package Builder Core Services.


Log file is now attached.

Issue is now resolved. All the services are now running successfully.

Refer SAP Note : 2010744

Cause

The com.businessobjects.apache.poi.jar file is missing in BI/IPS 4.1 SP2 Patch5.

The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01725335.

Resolution

The issue is scheduled to be fixed in BI/IPS 4.1 SP2 Patch6.

Workaround:
Open a Support ticket to the BI-BIP-ADM component to get the com.businessobjects.apache.poi.jar file. Copy the jar file to <INSTALL_ROOT>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\lib\bundles\ in BI/IPS 4.1 SP2 Patch5. Then restart EIM APS in CMC

Did you install Support Pack 1 Patch 3 or just Support Pack 1?

Hi,

Below are steps you can take to work around the issue you are seeing:

1. Copy the files that are in <Install Directory>\InstallCache\im.lac.icc.cdq.cognitivedq.pjs.services.backend-4.0-core-nu\14.2.1.<your build number>\actions\plugins\14.1.2

         

To

<Install Directory>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\pjs\services\ICC.DCAService\lib

2. Restart the EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer.

I just came across this thread.  I was having the same errors, and this fixed it for me.  (Mine was an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.2)  Thanks!

What's the exact version of IPS, DS and IS? and what repo database is selected?

Hi Nawafal,

I am using  the below components  with versions .

IPS ---> 14.1.2.121 ,

DS ----->14.2.1.224

IS ------->14.2.1.220

repository database is Microsoft Sql server 2008 R2 Express edition. 

I have not found DCA files in the  folder <drive>:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA\Data

But under EIM Adaptive processing server  Data Cleansing Advisory service  already selected in the right side of the services.

Hi,

i had the same error in the BI Platform. Often after an update from 4.0 to 4.1. The following always did the trick.

1. Stop the APS

2. Navigate to <IPS_INSTALL_DIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\pjs\container\work"

3. Delete the APS Folder.

4. Start the Server

If this didnt done the trick. Try to update your SAPJVM as shown in this Note:

Hi Ramana,

Do you still have this issue?

If yes, you can check the following logs in "<IPS_INSTALL_DIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging":

  • InformationSteward.AdminService.log
  • InformationSteward.ApplicationService.log

This symptom may indicate simple database access or permission problems to the repositories. You may search for denied queries in the log file.

There are DCA files missing in the folder  C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA\Data.

I have re installed  and now it is working fine.

Hello Venkata Ramana,

  Please follow these steps and send me the log files for more information .

1. In CMC  -> Servers -> EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer -> properties

2. Set the log level to High for Tracelog service

3. Restart the EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer

4. Please send me the following glf files under <drive>:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging

          1.  aps_EIM_<hostnam>.EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer_DcaTrace_trace*.glf

           2. aps_EIM_IQI_DQT_000.EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer_trace*.glf

Hi Venkat ,

Thanks for your support.

As per your instructions  I changed the trace level settings to high and restarted the EIMAdaptiveProcessing Server.  GLF files are generated in the logging . But I cannot attach the file  because of  not compatibility type  for attachments  and size of the log file more than 1 MB .

Could You please tell me the alternative to share the log files .

Hi Ramana ,

    In aps_EIM_<hostnam>.EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer_DcaTrace_trace*.glf file , you should see debug trace information . Just put the trace information with today's date .

I didn't see any DcatTrace_trace file  in the logging. I have found the below tracing files

jobserver_HANVIKASAI_WIN7.ISJobServer_MM.SchedulingService_CHILD0_trace.000001.glf

SIA_HANVIKASAI_WIN7_trace.000001.glf

Please let me know which one I have to send  or  I have to change any settings to generate the log file that you mentioned in your post.

    If you are not seeing *DcaTrace_trace*.glf after updating the EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer tracelog to High ,  then send me the aps_HANVIKASAI_WIN7.EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer_trace.000005.glf file .

Hello Ramana ,

  I didn't find much information in trace log, can you confirm that you have set the tracelog service to High as discussed in earlier posts .

Also can check following  in your environment

1. In CMC --> Core Services --> Stop EIM Adaptive processing server

2. Right click EIM APS --> Select services and make sure Data Cleansing Advisor service is part of selected services on right side . If this DCA service is not selected , select and Restart the EIM APS.

If DCA Service is already selected , Go to Step 3.

3. Can check if the following folders and files are available in your SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise install area. 

<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA

(and )

<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA\Data

4.If all these files are available , Restart the EIM Adaptive processing server in CMC and then check the task manager and let me know if you see dbsrv12 process is running.

5. Is Information platform Services(BOE) installed on the same machine as IS ?  If so, are you using the default SQLAnywhere database for Information platform Services(BOE) repository ?

Hi Venkat...

I am facing the same Issue and i checked all the steps which you have mentioned.only thing which i did not find is dbsrv12 process is not not running when i checked the task manager on my server...
