SAPJVM Patch update via JSPM

Former Member

Hi Experts

I wish to update my SAPJVM patch to 59 for SAPJVM 6 on Netweaver 7.3 SP 7.

We're currently on SAPJVM patch 17.

However, while trying to update it via JSPM (Updating SAP JVM - SAP JVM - SAP Library), SAPJVM is not available in the list of available components in JSPM.

I don't wish to do it the manual way/SUM...

Please do advise if there's some way to "bring" it into JSPM so that JSPM can then update it.../ or maybe I'm missing something very basic...

Please help...

Thanks a lot !

saba.

Hi,

As per the note it is told to use the SUM tool only.

1133020 - How to import a SAP JVM patch into an AS Java

1825382 - SAP Release Note for SL Toolset 1.0 SPS09

If the sum tools doesn't identifies it please use the below note.

1888623 - SUM tool is not able to identify the SAP JVM installed

Hi !

Thank you both !

As per several threads/help.sap.com it is indeed possible to update JVM using JSPM for NW 7.3...

To use SUM for just JVM would be a very tedious exercise...

Would it be possible to do it the manual way safely...

Thank you !

Hi,

When you do it manually you need to be more careful.

This was one of the sap note that use to tell how to do it  manually but sap has access to it only currently.

1579119 - Patching the SAP JVM manually for NetWeaver

for old release but not for you.

1611326 - Patching the SAP JVM 4.1 manually for NetWeaver 2004 and 7.0

If needed then you can check with sap.

few more thing on the JSPM side.

Before upgrading the JVM usually should upgrade the JSPM tool.

Check that the JVM patch is place in the correct location where JSPM is reading .

Should have correct permission.

Thanks

Check JSPM log files: JSPM_MAIN.LOG and SCAN_INBOX.LOG. Or attach it to message.

Can you describe steps performed during JSPM update and attach screenshots?

Hi Roman,

I haven't updated JSPM...just copied SAPJVM into EPS/in, started JSPM & used the Single support pack option...

In the list of components there's no SAPJVM...(this is the first time we're trying to patch JVM post install)

Thanks !

Hi,

As mentioned to you earlier if you find in the blog.

Before upgrading the JVM usually should upgrade the JSPM tool.

Then try to check if you can get the patch read in the New software component.

If not just follow the SUM tool as i don't think that it is so complex.
