BO 4.0 SP7 Transport Files import fail on BW 7.4 SP5

All,

We've upgraded our SAP BW to 7.4 SP5.

We also had to upgrade our BO version to SP7 for compatibility with BW 7.4.

But importing the BO Transport Files R21K900744 and R21K900748 fail with following error messages:

R21K900744: Program /CRYSTAL/SAPLMDX, Include /CRYSTAL/LMDX$08: syntax error in line 000038.

'/CRYSTAL/RSZ_X_VAR' must be a flat structure.

R21K900748: Program /CRYSTAL/SAPLPERS, Include /CRYSTAL/LPERS$01: syntax error in line 000014.

'/CRYSTAL/PERS_VAR' must be a flat structure.

Has anyone already encoutered this issue?

Regards,

Lieven

Hi Lieven,

I would suggest to use this SAP KBA:

1976434 - Error: "Program /CRYSTAL/SAPLMDX, Include /CRYSTAL/LMDX$08: Syntax error in line 000038" w...

I hope this information helps to resolve your issue.

Hi Ingo,

we've taken the transport files from BO 4.0 SP7 Patch 6 (the version currently installed on our server).

One extra remark: BW 7.4 was installed on a brand new server without older BO transport files.

the transports that are you are mentioned are for Crystal Reports and you should use the transports that are part of the latest Crystal Reports 2013 media.

Ingo,

Can you please explain?

We haven't installed Crystal Reports. We only use WebI and BO Analysis OLAP Edition, based on SAP BW.

What is the purpose of the Transport Files in folder "Collaterals > Add-ons > SAP > Transports"?

Do we still have to import them for our purposes?

Hello Lieven,

I would suggest you take a look at the installation guide for the SAP BusinessObjects Platform and the documentation for the Transports itself as it explains the usage scenarios very well.

Ingo,

Do we have to download Crystal Reports 2013 and import the Transport Files from that software package, or should we take those in BO Server package folder "Collaterals > Add-ons > SAP > Transports", as noted in the Administrators Guide?

These last ones give the errors while importing.

We don't use Crystal Reports at all.

Hello Lieven,

why don't you look at the Installation Guide for the SAP BusinessObjects software and first of all check in which scenario the transports are to be used ?

The scenarios for the transports are very well documented and at least - BEFORE creating a entry here in the forum - you should also check the product documentation to see if that provides you already an answer.

Hey Ingo,

We already installed a lot of BO-versions, where we always imported the Transport Files without any issue, the last version being BO 4.0 SP4.

But after upgrading BW from 7.01 to 7.4 SPS5 (on a new server), we noticed in the PAM that we needed at least BO 4.0 SP6+ to be compatible with BW 7.4 SPS2+. That is why we upgraded to BO 4.0 SP7 Patch 6.

So now we were very surprised that we got an issue while importing 2 out of the 4 Transport Files described in the Transport_EN.txt in BO SP7 Patch 6.

According to the PAM, these versions should be compatible.

How can we solve this issue?

Hello Lieven,

it seems that you don't wanna take a look at the product documentation as you are coming back after a few seconds for my response.

Sd I mentioned, take a look at the product documentation and take a look for which use cases you do need the ABAP Transports.

In case you are looking at the Crystal Reports transports you should look at Crystal Reports 2013 and use the latest transports from Crystal Reports 2013.

as mentioned, please take a look at the installation material to understand what the scenario for the transports is.

Lieven -

Just a guess

Please review SAP note  1921554 - How to verify the version of the SAP Integration Kit Transports loaded on the SAP Netweaver or SAP BW System?

Perhaps some transports are missing inside your system.
