ECC SSO configuration In BI4.1

Hi Experts,

We are currently in BI4.1. We are using BW as the source for all the webi reports.

Hence we have configured secured token system between BO and BW with the ref of below url.

http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/How+to+setup+SSO+against+SAP+BW+with+SAP+BO+BI4.0+Common+S...

Now BW SSO is working fine in with the OLAP connections and webi reports.

Now client is having new requirement. They want to have SSO with ECC system. I am new to ECC.

I have few questions on this configuration.

  1. Do I need to do the same configuration (STS) with ECC system as BW system.
  2. We are trying to create Relational connection, Universe( UNX) on ECC Functions and Develop CRE report. In that case Do I need to configure SNC or STS?
  3. If we want create CR2011 reports on top ECC with SSO. Do I need to configure SNC or STS?
  4. If I have to do SNC, please share the document for the same.

Please share your thoughts and correct me if my questions are wrong?

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,

JRK Prasad

Hello,

it is exactly the same configuration for the STS within ECC as with BW. There is no difference.

But you only need the STS if you are levereging two different Authentication mechanisms such as WinAD and SAP. If you just use the SAP Authentication you dont need the STS (Except you want to use Scheduling and Publications for different users).

1. Yes

2. Yes (When having multiple Authentication mechanisms)

3. Yes (When having multiple Authentication mechanisms and when you want to use the BIP Platform. If you want to connect directly from CR2011 to ECC without the BIP Platform you dont need it)

4. No SNC is required when using UNX

Thank you Seb for valuable answers.

Do we need to Configure SNC in BO to access CR2011 reports with ECC SSO?

Hi,

whats the source of the CR 2011 Reports? UNV Universe? ECC Tables?

If its any legacy content such as UNV Universes then yes. If its new content such as UNX or BICS connectivity then no. Also if you connect the CR 2011 Reports directly to ECC Tables you dont need the SNC, you can use STS here aswell.

Hello JRK,

i think i have to correct myself here.

As the CR2011 Libraries are in 32 Bit you will need SNC indeed.

Please see:

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1396213

As this Note is for XI 3.1 it is 1:1 applicapable for BI 4.1

If you run STS and SNC on the same Environment you have to check the following as well
