Does unified rendering allow you to support new browsers ?

For example I am running NW 702 PS 12.  According to PAM I/E 11 is not supported until SP14.

If I upgrade to the latest version of unified rendering that is applicable to SP12 will I gain support of I/E 11?

Not really. Due the fact that IE11 introduces rendering mode "Standard" so called standard mode , some adaptations needs to be made in back-end. This was first implemented in backend at NW702SP14.  Just applying latest UR patch in SP12 would provide not you with the full support of Web Dynpro ABAP Framework to IE11. You could meet rendering effects.
