Hi Team ,

Memory utilization is going more than 100% in hp-UX.

/ filesystem was 100% so i moved it to another filesystem and it is reflected as 30 % now , still memory utilisation is 100%.

Please suggest .

Thanks,

Pradeep.

Hi Deepak,

/ filesystem was 100% full so reduced it to 30 %.

also  /var to 60 %.

Please assist here.

Thanks,

Pradeep.

Hi Pradeep,

Following file systems

1) / -> root

2) /var

are OS related filesystems and we need to ensure that these file systems never get full.

If they reach 100% utilization, it may affect normal operation of any database or application like SAP leading to crash or hang situation.

Same behaviour like on our desktops when C:\drive gets full system hangs and does not respond.

In your case you may need to stop the SAP application and database. Take a reboot.

Reboot will release all the locks held due to /var and root file system being full.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Deepak Kori

Hi Pradeep,

Was your root filesystem " / " was 100% ?  If yes what have you moved and from where to where as it got reduced from 100 % - 30 %. Please provide those details.

With your query old than 4 days I understand that it's already resolved.

Usually when you move something from 100% full filesystem performance should be ok, Did you have palnned for bounce back server.

Please check / suggest on solution / query above.

Hope it help.s
