SUM EHP6 hangs in PREPROCESSING: MAIN_DTTRANS/DOWNCONF_DTTRANS_BCK

Hi All,

We're currently doing EHP6 upgrade of our ECC quality system.

However, SUM appears to be on hold/hanged in PREPROCESSING PHASE: MAIN_DTTRANS/DOWNCONF_DTTRANS_BCK. From runtime of our development, mock and training environment, this step only took 15 minutes to 45 minutes. However, for our Quality system, this is running now for more than 4

hours.

This is currently executing the following step:

EXECUTING /usr/sap/E6Q/SUM/abap/exe/db6util -dg USER_EXIT_STATUS -

w /usr/sap/E6Q/SUM/abap/log/DB6UESTA.OUT

E6Q /usr/sap/E6Q/SUM/abap/log/DB6UESTA.LOG

When checked, DB6UESTA.OUT and DB6UESTA.LOG are not being updated.

Can anyone advise on how to fix this?

We already opened a HIGH OSS Incident to SAP, but they are taking time to respond. Thus, I opended this discussion in parallel.

Kill all the SUM processes from the OS level and restart SUM.

Repeat the phase

Hi RB,

Tried that, killing all the SUM processes from the OS level and restart SUM. Repeated the phase, but still hangs on the same phase.

From the list of phases, this is the 2nd to the last. At this point, both original instance and shadow instance is down. We are assuming SUM stopped them both. Only DB is up.

Please advise what to further check. We are running on unix. Thanks.

are there any errors in the database trace file?

Hi all,

Issue is now resolved.

Killed the SUM processes from the OS level, but before restarting SUM again, we restarted the database. Afterwards, the SUM preprocessign stage finished, and we continued to Execution stage.

EHP6 upgrade is now finished.

Hi Rumar,

First please share DB6UESTA.LOG, DB6UESTA.OUT file .If possible try to execute the same  command i.e

db6util6 -dg USER_EXIT_STATUS -w from your upgrade dir .../SUM/abap/exe & share the result with us.

Thanks. Actually, thats the strange thing we are noticing, the file is not being updated. Please refer to screenshot attached. below.
