ALE implementation for BP / CA / IO

Dear all,

We might implement ALE for distributing master data (Business Partners / Contract Account / Insurance Objects) across SAP production / test and development systems. The idea is to have the same numbering for BP / CA and IO in all the environments (from prod.system to test and dev.systems).

I have some doubts regarding pre-requesite to take into consideration before implementing the solution:

1- Currently in dev./test and production systems number ranges for Business Partners are defined as internal number range --> would it be possible to distribute BP master data from prod. to test and dev systems ensuring the same numberation?

2- Currently in dev./test and production systems number ranges for Contract Accounts are defined as internal and external number ranges --> would it be possible to distribute BP master data from prod. to test and dev systems ensuring the same numberation?

Has anyone implemented before ALE for SAP FS CD master data?

Has anyone any idea what do I have to take into account before implementing  ALE as a way of distributing master data ensuring the same numbers across the systems?

Thanks

Hi,

Have you considered the option of using client copy from one client ( say prod client 001) to another ( test  client 002).
In this you can copy customizing data + application data (appl data = master data + transaction data). Here you may need to be careful to retain the source client application data. Imp prod customer data can be masked. Note; application data is dependent upon customizing data.
Refer to SAP notes;
Note 24853 - CC-INFO: Client copy, functionality
Note 489690 - CC-INFO: Copying large production clients
Note 19574 - CC-ADMIN: Controlling data selection during client copy.

You can get in touch with your basis consultant for this.

However if your client wants to use ALE whatsoever, replicating the master data from prod to test /dev can be done provided you use external number ranges in target environments to ensure same no, and by using data transfer RFC FMs. There might be issues related to space & performance unless the test / dev is on the same level of infrastructure as prod.

Hello Sagar,

My client really wants ALE solution to be implemented.

In terms of scope we are talking about only for BP/ CA / IO created internally in production and transferred to the other envionments.

Do you know which are the standard message types and Idoc types to use for business partners, contract account and insurance object  to be used?

Any related note to be considered?

Thank you

BUPAFS_FS_CREATE_FRM_DATA2

BUPA_INBOUND_MAIN_SAVE_M

for BP atleast. Hope this helps.

Hello Sagar,

Thank you for the information, we used BUPA_INBOUND_MAIN_SAVE_M as message type and it worked for BP.

Do you know if there is any standard message type for FI-CA contract account and Insurance Object?

Thank you for the tips.

Hi,

Glad to hear that message type for BP has worked out for you. For CA & IO , I have not come across any standard ones unlike accounting documents. Perhaps you may need to create custom IDoc type and Message type for them.
