Hi,

The BOXI3.1 SP7 feels faster.  Logged in and ran a report in Deski without any slowness.

- Is there a documentation on the performance improvement on BOXI3.1 SP7?

- I cannot find the SP7 what's new on http://help.sap.com/boe31sp7 nor Supported Platforms Guide, where are they?

Thank you in advance,

Jin-Chong

Hi,

Did you run into any issues installing BOE3.1 SP7?

I installed it yesterday on my sandbox and the SIA is no longer starting.

The SAP support lady told me there's an known issue with the installation. Waiting for her update.

Hi,

No issue for me during the BOXI3.1 SP7 FULL install on a Windows 2003 server.

Can you post the detail error code and message from your SP7 installation log for us to examine?

Hope this helps,

Jin-Chong

I'm on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

you have missing files or whole directories here : E:\Business Objects\javasdk\jre\bin\server\

Hi Denis,

I have 2 files under the folder " E:\Business Objects\javasdk\jre\bin\server\":

jvm.dll

Xusage.txt

Below is the answer from SAP (just got it):

<<<<<<<

Hi Ghassan,

As discussed, this is a known issue with BO 3.1 SP7 upgrade.

We had seen these issues previously wherein SIA does not start after

upgrading to BO 3.1 SP7.

One of the workaround is:

Replace win32_x86 from running environment. You will find it at below

link:

<<link removed by me>>

If that does not resolve the issue, un-installing and re-installing BO

patch might help. But make sure to follow best practices of

installation if you chose to re-install it. Refer below KBA for best

practices:

1952120 - SAP BusinessObjects (XI 3.1 and BI 4.0) Installation

pre-requisites & best practices

There is discussion going on regarding this issue internally.

Unfortunately I cannot provide you any link/forum as its internal as

of now.

I#ll let you know if I find any further information on this. Meanwhile

please try the steps provided to you.

>>>>>>>>

I guess I'll be busy trying workarounds until I get a formal answer about the known issue.

I was able to fix my issue in the sandbox by adding java_home to the path environment variable.

SAP still insists there's issue a potential issue with the installation. They will fix it and create a KB for it.

Hi Ghassan.

I also has a problem with BO 3.1 SP7 installation. I have installed in on BOE 3.1 SP5 FP3 and SIA stop working. When I uninstall it, it works.
Could you let us known the path which you set up for java_home? Is there a need to install appropriate java version?

Hi Marcin,

In my case I have the following System Variable:

JAVA_HOME=E:\Business Objects\javasdk\jre

I appended the following to the PATH System Variable:

;%JAVA_HOME%\bin

BOE3.1 SP7 installs its own JDK 7; no need to install it.

Hi Ghassan.

You are Great. I did some changes on System Variable and SIA is working now. Thank you for your help.

I have also other problem. Our BOE XI 3.1 is installed in english and 6 other languages. SP 7 upgdrade is working only for english version for others I have an error during installation :  CRVsPackageUI.dll_30865............. can not be installed because the file can not be found in cabinet file crpe32zz.cab

I have checked this cab but there was not this file. Did you have any experience with it.

One more question. Did you check if IE 11 works with BOE XI 3.1 SP7.

I tried to set up IE11 in compatibility View but it didn't work for us.

I have really appreciated your response as is very difficult to find some good materials or experienced users connected with BOE.

Hi Marcin,

Below are some of the issues with BO 3.1 SP7 version:

2014925 - SIA does not start after upgrade to BO XI 3.1 SP7  (INTERNAL ONLY)

1999612 - BOE 3.1 SP7 - Live Office only allow for English Language Pack to be installed

2000932 - Fail to extract the BOE XI 3.1 SP7 update installer

1. Regarding language packs, in my case I use english and french packs. They both seem to have installed correctly. You might have to wait for some LA fix or FixPack to fix your language packs installation.

2. Regarding IE11 compatibility, my tests were all successfull (IE11 compatibility view ON for intranet sites, JDK 7).

Hi Ghassan.

Have you got some problems with WEBI repots on BOE 3.1 SP7 ? I did redeploy few times using Tomcat6 with JDK7 and it didn't work at all for me. When I tried to open Webi report or any component connected with WEBI I got error:   HTTP Status 404 -

Regards.

Marcin.

Hi Marcin,

I just finished updating my QA environment to BOE3.1 SP7. No issues with webi so far.
HTTP Status 404 is pretty vague. Did you stop the tomcat, clean "\Business Objects\Tomcat7\work\Catalina\localhost" and start the tomcat again just to clear the old crap from your deployment?

What do you see in the logs?

Former Member

Marcin,

What do you see after HTTP Status 404 - ?

Former Member

Ghassan.

HTTP Status 404 -

type Status report

message

description The requested resource () is not available.

Apache Tomcat/6.0.35

I did a lot of installation with not redeploy and with redeploy. Because I had some problems with displaying history and shedule reports using IE 11 I have uninstalled Tomcat 7 and I installed Tomcat 6.
Finally it didn't resolve my issue with history and schedule using IE 11. SAP suggested me to install SAP Integration Kit and it help to display history and shedule report with IE 11.

After all above operation I am unable to redeploy components connected with WEBI reports.

Are you able to login to InfoView?

Can you attach a snapshot of the error you get?

Compare your deployment to mine.

Which Apps are missing?

Former Member
0 Kudos

Just one XCTemplateUploader

But it looks like my deployment was not completed. I have for some app old deployment dates.

Former Member

The ones with the old date should not keep webi from working.

See if you can do the following in your current environment (hopefully it's not PROD):

1. Stop Tomcat

2. Stop SIA

3. Copy the war files from "\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications" to "\Business Objects\Tomcat\webapps"

4. Start SIA (wait for a couple of minutes)

5. Start Tomcat

6. Validate and see if it works.

first you should check whether you are actually using a supported browser version. Use IE  10 / 11 in compatibility mode and see the results. Also view them in other browsers,

I copy it from

C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications

to

C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0_BOE120Tomcat\webapps

It didn't work for me. Is it the correct path ?

I find out war files under below path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\deployment\workdir\tomcat6\application

Former Member

Hi Marcin,

The path is correct (the war files exist in2 diffrenet locations but as long as they have the same date and size, you should be OK).

I can't think of anything else for now. I sugggest you open a ticket with SAP.

The note '2014925 - SIA does not start after upgrade to BO XI 3.1 SP7' is now visible for customer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do either the following:

    1. Set JAVA_HOME, Path environment variable on the Business Objects Server
      • "JAVA_HOME=<BusinessObjects installation drive>\<BusinessObjects install directory>\javasdk\jre"
      • "Path=;%JAVA_HOME%\bin"
    2. Set JAVA_HOME, Path environment variable on the Business Objects Server
      • "JAVA_HOME=<BusinessObjects installation drive>\<BusinessObjects install directory>\javasdk\jre\bin"
      • "Path=;%JAVA_HOME%"
    3. Set Path environment variable on the Business Objects Server
      • "Path=;<BusinessObjects installation drive>\<BusinessObjects install directory>\javasdk\jre\bin"

Possibilty 1 solved our sia start problem.

Hi Experts,

Thank you for your sharing.

I updated the environment "SAP BO XI 3.1 SP05" with "BOXI3.1 SP07" and have the same issue.

after read your help and Perform the SAP NOTE "2014925" then all work well !

I think that this operation must be repeat for each Update of TOMCAT version by SAP.

Best Regards,

Amara AMAOUZ.

Hello,

the Fixed issues can be found here:

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000196562014E/XI31_SP7_Release_Notes_en.pdf

But you are absolutly right. I didnt found a PAM and What`s New either?!

If you require this information i would recommend you open an Incident with the SAP Support.

Hi,

I opened an incident last week. SAP told me that today, April 7, the document would be published (but I can't find it yet).

Best regards
